I loved Thor simply for the coming of age/prodigal son story that was told. Captain America felt like wartime propaganda. That shit was super meh to me. Iron Man 1 and 2 are amazing to me. Thor was great, all paled in comparison to Avangers. Capt American finished last. I won't disparage the franchise yet because I hope to God that Winter Soldier is going to blow the fucking doors off phase 2.

Ya know all the parts that actually dealt with propaganda were treated with satire. They actually went out of their way to make this as heroically neutral as possible. Carter was English, Cap's team was international, Hydra wasn't political but instead over the top evil and crazy. These steps paid off as a film where the hero dressed up as the American flag did very good overseas.

The Iron Man films, actually, are way more 'America hoorah' than the Captain America film.

As always, you make very valid points. I said they 'felt' meh and I have no real reason to shit on that movie any further than it didn't agree with what i want in a Marvel film. It didn't jive with me as much. I knew going in this was an origin story, and I somewhat liked it...but it isn't in my top tier of Phase one Movies.

I'm hoping that Winter Soldier is the grand slam as I want to like Cap (but he was never a favorite of mine growing up). He's second on my list of Good guys I hate with Cyclops being far and away the number one good guy cunt
