They threw the belt at him to get him to stay, but then was just going to job him out (making absolutely ZERO sense- putting the strap on the guy as inscentive to stay only to have him lose it straightaway).
On a related note, I HOPE that something like this doesn't happen to Daniel Bryan (in the sense that he gets the belt at WM 30 then either the next night OR within the week after Wrestle Mania 30 he loses said belt).
