They know they didn't invent rapping over rock, in fact they have a whole song about how people think they are original because of such things. They didn't create their genre but I do think they both helped mold it into their own style.

Of course, Chester has come off in my eyes as not musically knowledgable. He talks about how he was special to LP because he could sing in the keys they were writing in. Newsflash, most of the music you write isn't really in awkward keys, and a LOT of people tune in drop D so they CAN get their vocal range to mesh with a guitar. Maybe hes just not musically competent to understand the difference between the two. |
