Purple makes sense with the CWC colors being Purple and Silver.

I'm cool with the purple accents on the plates but the strap just feels like too much purple. Would look badass on a black strap I believe.

The final was great but it did have this quality about. It was like the last match of an insanely good tournament with two incredible matches before, the guys were exhausted and they did the best thing they could do. They went out and had the tournament final, two guys just gunning for the win. What an amazing finish too, and TJ's victory speech was brilliant, instantly fell in love, instantly a star. I thought Metalik would have and should have taken the tournament, but he will still be awesome without the win, TJ is elevated now. Dope show.

Maybe I'm old-school, but I like the old Cruiserweight Championship belt (of the World) better, although that's not a knock on the new design. The purple and silver scheme looks nice.

The belt is purple to go with the welts on TJ Perkins chest. Jesus fucking Christ.

What a night, what an event. I know the cruisers are going on Raw and NXT, but they'll likely only get a segment at most. I really hope they do this again next year. I think even the worst matches had a cut above the usual quality.

Really surprised at the success that guys from TNA are having. AJ Styles is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Samoa Joe is former NXT Champion, and TJP is the WWE Cruiserweight Champion. Not to mention guys like Roode, Aries, and Young.

Don't think an invasion is really necessary with them. There is some truth to what STD said. If TNA had used these guys right instead of pushing the latest WWE release then TNA might actually be competition. WWE has done a great job with all of them and have really let them be themselves but have backed them up with the booking.

If they were to form a group of ex TNA guys together I think The New Alliance would be a great name though. Throwback to the Alliance and has that TNA wink to it.

Completely unfair comparison. All but Perkins had really stellar careers in TNA with longevity to boot. Roode has been used well for 2 months in NXT, he has in TNA for, what, 11 years? Props to WWE for using AJ in a way that most wrestling fans have known he was capable of for a decade, and during that time he had some major success with TNA. Granted there were times when he was misused, but let's see if the same isn't true of his WWE career when we get to 2026.

And the idea that "using these guys right" would have made TNA into serious competition is bogus. TNA gave all of these guys a platform to further their careers when WWE had no interest in them. It's only now WWE have done such a poor job with their home grown talent that these guys are getting the chance. And of course anything with the WWE seal of approval looks better than they do elsewhere, that's what WWE has done since the 80s.

Next CWC tournament has the potential of being a women's based one according to PWI.

Quote:
There is already talk of doing a similar CWC style series in 2017, perhaps focusing on female talents. There's been early discussion of doing something in the first quarter of 2017 but that was nowhere written in stone.

I watched the finals without seeing even the entire first round. A great story told here. Kota Ibushi and Zack Sabre, Jr. going out early made sense if they haven't signed contracts, and honestly, Gran Metalik seems like he's better than ZSJ anyway.

Perkins got some major stuff down. He's managed to get "Kneebar" over and he's got souped-up versions of it. He came off as really well spoken. He looked like a deer caught in the headlights a bit -- like he lacks real charisma, you know? But in the ring and on the mic he is very good, so he'll fill the space he needs to well. The story told here made him seem like a "legit" star, but it'll be interesting to see how that goes on the main roster.

Love Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa as a team. Please keep them together WWE. I liked how they got time to let everything breathe on this show. They let stuff stew and brought out Corey Graves and William Regal for that extra padding. Good stuff and it felt legit.

Triple H just HAD to get himself over with this thing though didn't he? He put Regal out there too, but man, Mauro and Regal just HAD to name-drop him as the mastermind and he just had to come out and present the Cruiserweight Title to whoever won. Like, fair-played that he's really trying to get himself over as a guy who can do this, but there's a lot of ego in these things too, and people just lap it up.

Wouldn't mind a women's tournament in the CWC format but would really like to see the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic set up like that instead of being NXT only.

In a way, I am glad that they're not associating the new WWE Cruiserweight Championship with the older WCW/WWE Cruiserweight Championship of the World.

Top 2 reasons

#1. The weight limit for the new belt is lower than the previous strap.
#2. Hornswoggle and a select few (somewhat) tarnished the legacy of the belt.

A women's tournament would be fantastic.

* Alpha Female (Germany)
* Arisa Nakajima (Japan)
* Ayako Hamada (Japan/Mexico)
* Blue Pants (United States)
* Candice LeRae (Canada)
* Cheerleader Melissa (United States)
* Evie (New Zealand)
* Goya Kong (Mexico)
* Hannah Blossom (England)
* Heidi Lovelace (United States)
* Holly Blossom (England)
* Kellie Skater (Australia)
* Kimber Lee (United States)
* Leah Vaughn (Canada)
* LuFisto (Canada)
* Madison Eagles (Australia)
* Makoto (Japan)
* Melanie Cruise (United States)
* Nicole Mathews (Canada)
* Nikki Cross (Scotland)
* Portia Perez (Canada)
* Santana Garrett (United States)
* Sara Amato (United States)
* Sarah Stock (Canada)
* Saraya Knight (England)
* Savannah Summers (Australia)
* Shazza McKenzie (Australia)
* Siloueta (Mexico)
* Vanessa Kraven (Canada)
* Victoria (United States)
* Xochitl Hamada (Japan/Mexico)
* Zeuxis (Mexico)

It's mainly Canada, Australia and the US there, but you can easily bump out a few Aussies or Canadians for some more South American talent, an African one and more from Europe/Asia too.

He HAS to. Vince isn't in the best of health and when the time comes, the shareholders will freak out. HHH has to be selfish and get his credentials out there to set up a precedent as a manager and overall director.

I don't doubt there may be personal motivations but I have no issues here.

Looks like they're bringing back the Dusty Rhodes classic. Dunno if they're just keeping it NXT or if they're branching out like this though.

I'd say it will be another NXT thing as if it was going to be like the CWC then there would probably be a lot more news about it. If so I'd like to see Roode and Aries as a team and possibly even win the thing. Nakamura and Itami could be a team plus TM61,Revival, and Authors of Pain. Should be a good tournament how ever it goes down.

Even more reason to have Roode win the thing. Not sure who Joe would team with this year though. Maybe someone from the CWC like Tazawa or Kendick.

Think people are overreacting to the triple h thing. Not like he came out and cut a 20 minute promo on how great he is.

Frankly, if he was the mastermind behind this, he deserves a couple minutes to pat himself on the back.

I thought it was a cool way to debut the new cruiserweight title. Who else should that have been? Definitely didn't ruin what was an otherwise fantastic tournament.

It didn't ruin it, it was just ego-soaking. They may have appreciated the minutes, but they might have also appreciated being allowed to go while they were ready or before they cooled down completely. I don't know, but I'm not talking about them anyway -- I'm specifically talking about how Triple H uses NXT/CWC/the Women's Division to appeal to smarks, when a few years ago those were the very same things he would bury in order to get a pop for himself or whatever.

I think he does care about the business, but I think he also cares tremendously about how he is perceived in it. Hey, he's human -- but I don't buy this "Triple H is a selfless wrestling god with the love of the fans informing everything he does" myth. That's all. If he does what is best for business because he's an egomaniac, he's still doing what's best for business. But I think he'll always do what is right for himself at the end of the day -- that's why he's survived and it's why he's managed to become the de facto replacement for Vince.
