Having Dorm beat by what's essentially a gag/prank (albeit a clever one) kinda burries him from being a big bad for the next three phases.
Dr Doom really needs to get back to Marvel because he's the only big bad who would justify a macro arc like Thanos got. Way more than Galactus, imo. |

Had they simply had Strange do a straight bargain of some sort where he leaves and takes his cult, we could save and tease him for after Thanos. But character story telling has a lot in common with pro wrasslin credibility; you have to sell characters. And they can be burried.
The way Dorm was defeated was unique, but he will not headline an Avengers movie. Whedon had to have a pow wow with executives to have Loki lose to a punchline! Dr Doom or Masters of Evil for the second macro arc. |
