Going massively against the popular opinion here, but I've always felt Jake's promo skills were mega overhyped. His promos (what I've seen) aren't bad, but they're not the be-all-end-all of promos and psychology that people make him out to be.

Maybe it was different in 1989, but watching any of his promos today don't seem any different than what most people are capable of doing.

It was different at the time but as much as it pains me I have to go with DB as well. His work in the indies speaks for itself and his skill and his heart got him the support of the fans and they got him to the main event scene in the WWE despite the promoters feelings on the matter.
