I mean, I'm throwing spitballs here but they would have to be total idiots to announce this and not have any idea where they want to show it. Not that the WWE or "Alpha" or whatever is above that I guess but maybe I have more faith in Vince than others. The anthem thing was just asked a bunch of times by the writers. They want Vince to take a hard stance on it to create controversy - not the kind of controversy you want at this stage if you're Vince. It wasn't something Vince brought up on his own. If you're going to say Vince made that a talking point, than he also made a talking point of trying to sell the XFL to San Diego and Pittsburgh. |

League itself still has enough time for things to fall into place and the 2 year window is around the range needed based on other sports leagues. Its still a big gamble since Vince is trading away having a network at the start in favor of more time to build and hopefully be interesting enough to attract a good network or platform. The anthem thing I could see become tricky later if its still a big issue or Trump keeps feuding with the NFL by the time the XFL launches. Vince keeping it as just a simple bullet point helps him a lot but at the same time no players or coaches around to see what their stance or reaction is. |
