what's been the overall impression of Apollo's new gimmick on here?

I kind of like it. something vastly different for him

I haven't had the chance to judge yet. But I've not liked what I've seen in clips so far. However I did recently learn that Apollo is actually from Nigeria which made me respect the gimmick more and feel like it was less insensitive. So I'm curious. I don't like that he changed his accent, that seems dumb to me but let's see how the match goes.

yeah the way he changed his accent is pretty funny. but yes i think it works because he's actually from there and not some fake BS. That staff he carry's is pretty cool too

It's funny that they had to gimmick the IC match up though. Vince hates the IC belt lol

Yeah the gimmick is based on some truth with his background but the accent drags it down because he hammed it up too much and turned his gimmick into just a stereotypical evil foreigner gimmick. If he dialed it down a bit, he wouldn't break it as much as he's done in recent promos.

Sort of like how Lana after a while kept breaking her Russian accent during her heel promos.

From the brief clips I've seen, it seems way better than his generic "smiling guy" gimmick before

Yes! couldn't stand smiling Crews when he was with Titus. Hated them so much.
