Trying to remember but when did the whole RKO OUTTA NOWHERE thing start?

Was it when Orton hit an RKO on a flying Matt Sydal years ago on RAW or before that?

No idea. Seems like he was born with it since the saying has been around so long.

I think that's what really popularized it, but it came before that one.

Sort of like CM Punk's infamous rant retroactively becoming known as the "pipebomb" even though he hadn't cut the promo where he had said that yet.

Way earlier, probably going back to Mania 21 when he countered Taker's chokeslam attempt into an RKO.
