The best player in NFL history is getting a chance to play for a Super Bowl team in his possible last season? I think that matters

You can look at it that way. What I meant was that I don't think he will make the team any better, he will be the third wide reciever at best. Remember when Cris Carter played for the Dolphins in his last season? It didn't matter at all.

And its not like he is a Karl Malone type, where he hasn't won a championship. He's just an aging guy now.

This is a great trade for everyone involved.

Rice wanted to play on a team that would actually use them. Oakland is finally starting to get a bit younger, so they decided they didn't want him anymore. Personally I would've still used him for this year and possibly next, if I were Oakland, but that's their call. Jerry doesn't have an ego, he just wants to play. It had nothing to do with money or glory or anything, he just wanted to be on a team that would let him play. So this is good for Rice.

It is a great move by Seattle. With Robinson likely out for 4 weeks because of his suspension, they get a great fill-in for him. Rice can step in and be their #2 guy right away. I think Rice and Holmgren played together (well, played/coached) in San Fran, so Rice won't be going into a completely new system or anything. And even better, the 'Hawks only gave up a 7th-round pick for him.

And for Oakland, it was a pretty good move. They avoided a potential media disaster by giving Rice a chance to go, and they still ended up getting something in return, when they could have easily just released him. Granted, it's only a 7th-round pick, but that's better than nothing. They got rid of a player they aren't using at all, freeing up salary and a roster spot, and got a draft pick out of it.

I guess the only disappointing thing is that, to fans, the greatest receiver in NFL history was traded for a 7th-round pick because he was basically dead weight on his team.
