I always said id probably stop watching wrestling when Shawn Michaels leaves, then Rock/Austin/DX happened and i forgot all about it but funnily enough now that HBK is actually gone, i feel different, like the last piece of my childhood has been taken from me. HBG is the greatest wrestler ever

I wouldn't say it was sadder, it was just very different. Was a HUGE huge production, which was probably how Shawn wanted it. That being said, I do think it's more significant since this is his first "retirement", and I do actually seem him sticking to it believe it or not.

The first Shawn Michaels match I remember seeing live was in early '96, before Mania 12. He was the semi-main even that night, wrestling against Steve Austin, who was the Ringmaster at that time.

I know I went to WWF shows before that, I was just too young to really remember any of the matches.

I will never forget the Rumble of 95. They were still doing the interviews backstage when the wrestlers drew their numbers, and he sounded so confident and happy about his number. Then he comes out as number one and everyone was talking about how he was bluffing. Then Davey Boy had number two and at that point I didn't even consider he would win. And then he went the distance and put on a hell of a show with big Diesel at Mania.... awesome, awesome "Road to WrestleMania".

I've honestly never really gotten into making actual rankings of my favorite wrestlers...but I do know that my top 3 in some order are Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, and Chris Jericho.

Flair still works occasionally but I don't forsee him ever being a full-time worker again. If Shawn came back (which I don't think he will) I doubt he'd be more than a one or two match guy. And Jericho turns 40 this year.

Shit. Just feels weird.

This is a lot different than Flair's farewell. Flair leaving was sad, but it did not hit me as hard because the majority of his career was before I was even born. The majority of HBK's career was when I was growing up, so I saw him throughout my childhood.

I was texting a good friend of mine who is also a big wrestling fan during Raw and I realized that the only wrestlers left from my childhood are Undertaker and HHH. Gonna be weird when Taker retires relatively soon and HHH eventually retires years from now.
