The story for that game is incredible. You're fired, so Stephanie hires you to go around killing Vince's workers to stop Wrestlemania being completed. Then you go so far as to kill other wrestlers just so you can have a match with Vince.

It's the definitive wrestling storyline.

Hey, at least it had a story mode, unlike WWE WrestleMania X8 the year before it on GameCube. All it had was Path of A Champion, where you could the WWF, WWF IC, WWF European, WWF Hardcore, WWF Light Heavyweight, or WWF Tag Team belts, and all that was was going through the motions to win the title, with different difficulties to try. Then there was Battle for the Belts mode, with the 50 (I think?) fictional titles that you could compete for. Same concept, different name.

Super pumped for WM18 when it came out. The cover drew me in. I remember marking out and thinking "WOW the top 3 biggest guys from each company!"

then...I got it and was bored of it after like 1 week.

I remember when it was first being developed, way back in late '01, the unofficial box art had the scratch WWF logo, and then they edited it to the WWE scratch logo in time for the release. The only reason I bring this up is because ironically, everything in the game, turnbuckles, title names, everything, had the WWF logo instead of the then brand new WWE logo.

... That was a terrible mode, mainly because you wrestled exactly 1 match. Everything else was you doing wrestling moves to random people in places that had nothing to do with wrestling. With a janky ass camera and cheap AI to boot

I'd also like add that No Mercy is probably the greatest wrestling game ever, Triple Threat No DQ Ironman matches were just legendary. It also had the best ladder matches seen in any game too.

I agree except for the fact i had a fucked up bugged version of the game which ruined somethings on it for me. Your post though has just bought back some good memories of it.

I never knew they re-released No Mercy without the auto-reset glitch, so the copy I have has it leaving me to back up the CAWs on the memory card.

I agree with TL. Either would be amazing. I think I'd slightly prefer Lesnar, out of nothing but the novelty of him not being in wrestling any more. Where as Foley could well be in the main roster by next years game....

Plus Foley said on Twitter that he is in the game, and he doesn't come across as the type who would say something like that for no reason.
