I just tried the demo the controls where pretty good and easy for me to pick up. As for the submission controls are pretty easy to understand unlike 2010.

Yeah, transitions are pretty simple. Quarter circle rotation for a minor transition, half circle rotation for a major one. There is also a simple mode where you just press up for a major transition and down for minor. Though I'd guess that also limits your control over what type of transition you will perform. Similar concept to MvC3 I'd say.

You lock in a submission by clicking the right stick, and if a fighter has a signature submission you hold LB while clicking the stick. Signature strikes work in a similar fashion.

I haven't been really following this game til recently, but it looks fantastic. I'll definitely be spending most of my time in Pride mode, as it is really well done, and I've always been a bigger admirer of Pride than I ever was of UFC.

Does any one know if you can only use Pride fighters in Pride mode? May seem a silly question, but this is THQ, and they are known for making nonsensical decisions like that.

Pretty sure it's Pride guys in Pride mode only. UFC guys who were in Pride will probably show up in both tho. It makes sense a little because the rules are different and movesets have to be adjusted accordingly.

you can use all UFC guys in Pride mode too apparently, at least that's what the developers said early on

wasn't feeling too positive after playing the Alpha beta server test thing over the last few days but the demo is the man, if only for the Pride fight. Was playing against a friend last night and we had to pause mid round for a good 5 minutes from laughing/awe after I had him caught in some kind of cycle where he basically couldn't get up from being down in the corner due to me stomping on his face maybe 12 times in a row. Was one of the greatest/funniest things I've ever seen in a computer game. Not really going to get tired of doing that/soccer kicks/knees on the ground etc, especially when playing local multiplayer

Yeah but that kind of sucks, because you can't have fights between guys who are exclusive to each brand. And I want to murder Frank Mir with Bob Sapp.

I wouldn't mind it if you could use UFC guys in Pride, but not vice versa, so I hope what CSL says is true.

Had an amazing knockout on Wanderlei just now. Went for an uppercut and just as Rampage ducked to start the motion, wanderlei went for a right hook which completely whiffed and I connected with the uppercut which instantly knocked him out. Was fucking beautiful and pretty much sealed the deal for me on purchasing this.

Submission system is hard to explain, but it's definitely better than 09.

Honestly, you all should just play the demo, as I'm not the best person to be evaluating this. I bought 09, but never got into it enough where I had a good understanding of it, outside of striking and take downs. And I never even played 10.

K, so after searching through a bunch of topics at gamefaqs, it appears you can use any fighter in either brand.

Yeah it's gamefaqs, but multiple topics have said the same thing.

I'm probably gonna play Pride as much as I can. Just had an incredible match where Wanderli knocked me down and head stomped me but I managed to recover, then got up and he dazed me again, blocked that then upercutted him on all fours and Randy Orton head punted him to finish him.

Hired 2010 yesterday, pisses me off that I tap like a little bitch to any submission, its like I don't even fight the sub.

And the impossible fights from time to time. I was 14-0 the other day on Advanced and Shane Carwin knocked me out with a single punch within about 7 seconds

I fought back with a few wins, fight Carwin for the title, pummel him for 4 rounds with him barely getting in a shot and he subs me 20 seconds into round 5... Frustrating.

I was thinking about buying 2010 but I might wait for this, looks good.

wowwww Overeem is a fucking killer, I played 2009 and 2010 to death and never dropped somebody with practically full stamina/health with a body shot until just now. Murdered JDS inside a round. No stamina though. Almost makes me glad for my eventual CAF that's he's not in career mode (which is still really dumb tho)
