This kid has both Smith AND Hart blood flowing through his veins. I hope he gets some great backing by WWE.

I'm not a huge fan of Masters, but look at what the WWE's protective booking has done for him. If they can just give him some good booking, the talent will come naturally as time goes on.

Here's hoping we get a nice surprise out of this kid.

It clearly has little to do with talent or personality. Vince loves nepotism, plain and simple--it's a bogus reason to hire people, especially for pushes that real workers deserve, but it happens all the time.

I don't know about this kid. I haven't seen enough/any of him to pass judgement. One thing I can say though is that I hope for his sake they don't push him hard down our throats as the Bulldog's son. It would be a shame as he's going to be too green to live up to expectation.

Give him a career of his own. And what's with the bypassing of OVW. If Punk has got to slum it out for a while, why does Smith get a different route?

Bullshit? Who the fuck knows who Carlos Colon is? Infact, nobody even knows Carilto's second name is Colon. And Bob Orton Jnr wasn't a superstar in this business. Davey Boy Smith was a WWF SUPERSTAR. Not a star like most of the talent but a real superstar which only about 15 people in that company can really name claim to. He pretty much single handedly sold out 80,000 seats for the biggest LEGIT attendance record in WWF/E history (and don't even mention Wrestlemania 3 because it didn't do 93,000 no matter what shit WWE tells you). He being a babyface got WCW launched in the UK. He being in the WWF during the 90's helped keep the company afloat when they were losing money head over foot. The only place they drew real money was in Europe and who was their biggest draw? Oh the British Fucking Bulldog. Oh and on top of that, Davey Boy Smith only happened to be one of the best in ring talents in the last 15 years as well as arguably the best tag team of all time (or at least top 5 in 95% of people's minds).

But those aren't big shoes to fill at all are they? Just ask David Flair and David Sammartino how easy it is filling a legends boots.

Once again, sleep deprovation may be causing me to look like an idiot...but I'm a little confused. Are you under the assumption that I was in some way slandering the British Bulldog? 'Cause...I wasn't.

I don't care if anybody knows Carlito's daddy outside of the company. That little factor doesn't really factor in. And wether "Cowboy" Bob was a superstar or not, he's a certified legend -- but even that isn't the base of what I'm talking about.

All I said was that this company loves to hire in the family. And that they like to treat the blood just a little better than the rest of the crew; kinda like how Irish guys could join the Mafia, but only the Italians were Made Men. They have no problem hiring this kid b/c of his heritage, wether he's good or not. Hell, Johnny Parisi even got that grant. The only reason I"m sure he didn't get a major push is b/c he's not as young as Carly and Randy.

So, whatever set you off about Davey Boy, I dunno...it was unnecessary. I'm just saying that the "it's not fair" bit is kind of an uninformed thing to say.

You think that Harry Smith will get his position purely judged on his in ring talent and use Carlito and Randy Orton as examples of wrestlers with famous wrestling fathers who got where they are based on talent. In their cases, it's probably true (although Orton definately got his foot in the door of OVW and WWE because of his name). In Harry's case, his father was a far bigger star and is still in most fans memories so he will have a hell of a lot more to live up to then Randy or Carlito did. And if you have to live up to massive expectations, you better be as talented as possible.

Wow. Second generation David's don't have a good track record, do they?

I think the best role for Harry Smith in the WWE is in a tag team. With rumours Smith is going to be put on-screen with Chris Benoit (good move, plays up his wrestling ability and Hart family heritage), I am still praying he teams with Gunner Scott (Brent Albright). Scott is apparently awesome in the ring (especially from a technical standpoint), so I can see these guys pulling off a Shelton Benjamin/Charlie Haas to Chris Benoit's Kurt Angle as "Team Benoit".

The more and more I think about it, the more and more I think Paul London & Brian Kendrick will not win the WWE Tag Team Championship from MNM. I would love it to happen, but Paul London is #1 Contener for the Cruiserweight Championship (although I'm sure the WWE has forgotten), so putting the Tag Titles on London & Kendrick seems kind of redundant. A short reign to add interest to both guys would be great, though, especially if it led to a feud (that the WWE actually plays out).

Anyway, point is that MNM vs. Team Benoit seems like a tag team classic from where I'm sitting. If Shawn Michaels, for some reason, puts politics aside and decides to move to SmackDown! (maybe with promise of winning another World Title or something); Shawn Michaels, Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. Chris Benoit, Gunner Scott & Harry Smith could be feud of the year. So confused...

Harry Smith coming to the WWE is definately a good thing, though.

I'm a little ashamed to admit I've never seen Harry Smith wrestle. I assume he uses the Running Powerslam as a finish? And a similar style to his father?

Well he is 6ft 5 and about 255lbs so he uses a lot of the style his dad did. I would have brought him in with TJ Wilson as the Stampede Bulldogs. Perhaps even Nattie Neidhart as a 3 person New Hart Foundation group.

O.K., it took me a few reads of this post to understand the problem here, but I got it: You just completely misunderstand everything I've said.

In fact, I do think they're looking at Harry b/c of his father. But that's exactly what I said about Randy and Carlito. I never said anything about either of them being talented, because, quite frankly, whereas I see Carlito as an adequate guy with signs of maximum potential in-ring, I see Randy as a vaginal secretion with a total lack of talent. He gets around on having a good body and his dad's last name. But neither of them got where they are because of talent. It was all because of nepotism.

And hell, If Harry enters the show as "Harry Smith, son of the British Bulldog" then yeah, it'll be a big spot to fill. But then again, I don't think I ever heard Lawler bragging about his son Grandmaster Sexay during the run of Too Cool. That's one reason characters exist -- so guys like Dustin Runnels aren't constantly compared to their fathers.
