Ya know, for years growing up, I'd watch horror movies where the "hero" was always this bloody-messed, crying girl who'd be running, and tripping over stuff, and just barely surviving. Then I'd watch all these 80's action movies, and see these bad-ass dudes kicking some ass, and I'd think...."God, it'd be awesome if one of those guys went up against some psycho killer from the horror movies."

.....And that is exactly what Sheriff Wydell was. He was a dream come true kind of character. He was this fearless, Billy Bad-Ass kinda dude that would take down an entire army of zombies just using one shotgun, and would do it without any fear in his eyes.

In most horror films, it's the killer that does the stalking, but in The Devil's Rejects, it's the hero who does the stalking, and you're left to wonder.....who is more insane? The Sheriff or the psycho killers?

Also, in most movies, plenty of people cheer for the bad guy. But in this movie, not only do the killers get to see what it's like to be the victims, but the people that cheer on those killers get to see what it's like to be the audience member that wants the victims to get away, and they get to be the ones on the edge of their seat, all nervous, worried about what's going to happen, whereas people on the "good side" get to see what it's like to cheer on the stalking killer.

The roles for everyone are all totally reversed, and I love that.
