LOL, did anyone see Utley say "fuck you" to the crowd after he was booed during introductions. Must be a ton of Mets fans there today.

Also, was just reading something about Papelbon saying he thinks he deserves to close the All-Star game. Besides the fact that it is the last year in Yankee Stadium and the fact that Mariano will probably go down as one of the best closers ever, Rivera is having a better year than him this year anyway. I could only imagine the reaction at Yankee Stadium if Papelbon comes running out during the 9th; it'd be mayhem lol.

Yeah that's what I was saying a few weeks ago, Francona would get blasted by EVERYONE. That's why they should have just let Rivera start to avoid that whole thing.

The funny thing about the whole Papelbon situation...really, the AL also has Rodriguez, Nathan, Soria, Sherrill.....I bet if any of them said the same thing as Papelbon, Yanks fans would give it a pass as "eh he wants to shine in the spotlight, who wouldn't?"

People used to sit there but batters complained it was right in the batting eye so they blacked out the section and don't let anyone sit there. There's not even seats there anymore. It's just kinda like sidewalk painted black - steps with the bleachers removed.

Oh yeah and one other thing...maybe this just annoyed me because I'm a Mets fan....but during the ESPN game yesterday, at Shea Stadium....a stadium that's gonna get torn down, they spent like 3 minutes tops talking about how it was the last year at Shea but spent a solid 2-3 innings harping on about all the experiences at YANKEE Stadium.

Now don't get me wrong...I get that Yankee Stadium obviously has a lot more history, is more heralded, and the AS Game is gonna be there...but christ, you'd think absolutely nothing happened at Shea in its 44 years listening to the ESPN guys. Hell, one of the most replayed moments in baseball history happened there. I know they are idiots, but that just pissed me off. Not to mention, they were just at Yankee Stadium the week earlier so they could have talked about that then.

Guess I'm just a little annoyed of the NY media not giving a shit about Shea. Again, it might just be because I'm a Met fan and have a personal attachment to the stadium.

I realize its a dump, and for that I'm glad a change is coming. But it just annoys me that they seemed to make it look like Shea was a one year rental stadium...as if NOTHING had ever happened there.

Wow, apparently Bonds' agent has said he's now willing to sign for the league minimum. I'm normally not big on conspiracy theories but even I have to say now that MLB told each team to not sign him. I doubt ALL 30 teams would pass on him for such a cheap price.

I can see a big market team not wanting him, but a team like the Royals could draw a shitload of publicity and possibly even avoid the cellar with the Tribe sucking hard.
