Bret has actually gotten higher on my list recently. Not because of his return or anything, but I've just gotten to appreciate his work more over the last few years. I always thought he was great, but not nearly as much as I do now.
Triple H's current stuff is probably what keeps him from being higher on my list. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I guess it just overexposes it to me on a weekly basis. His run from 97-2001 is amazing. During that time he was a great heel, a great face, had a number of great character changes. From the midcard heel member of DX, to the uppermidcard face leader. Then the heel turn, and the run as The Game. And last but not least, the 2 Man Power Trip. He had tons of great fueds and storylines in this time, and his match quality during this run was top notch on a consistent level. The quad tear was sort of an end of an era. When he came back he was still great, but a lot was obviously different. |
