Well, if they're looking for "something new" before the make another game then we aren't going to get the standard F-Zero. Which is why I suggested my idea.

I'm thinking expanded multiplayer akin to some of the recent Need For Speed games. You can do that without the tacked on open world thing.

In any case I trust Nintendo to keep things gully. They don't do drastic silliness like Capcom and others.

It all depends what they mean by "something new". I don't think more players is what they have in mind.

I'm a believer that when says they wanna do something special; they have gamers in mind.

If this was EA or Activision I'd lower my expectations considerably.

I just can't think of what could be "new" to an F-Zero game without changing the formula. They already did create a ship and create a track.

- Hard tracks.
- Online features; private/public Grand Prix, weekly challenges, progressive leaderboards, Rival lists.
- WiiU gamepad highlights the track and everyone on it, pole positions, and other things to clear up the game screen (though we want stuff like vehicle health and track map on the TV).
- Cockpit view.
- Create a track and vehicle isn't make or break but I'd want it in.

Team Meat is willing to make a deal with Nintendo where they would loan Meat Boy as a special third party character for the upcoming Smash game and in return they would develop a few games for the Wii U and 3DS.

Although they might have hinted they were being sarcastic and wouldn't hold up their end since none would be exclusive nor any guarantees they'd even show up on Nintendo systems.

Meat Boy is cool but those guys aren't quite there yet. Nintendo told EA to fuck off just a few weeks ago.

Is this game supposed to be any good? Smash Bros is the last vestige of Nintendo fanboyism I have left. I'm not touching any next-gen Nintendo console if Smash Bros isn't going to kick ass. This thread has been incredibly dull and boring, which does not give me hope for the game itself.

According to Sakurai, both his studio and Namco are putting a bigger effort and focus for the game's online modes as both a lesson they learned from Brawl and as a way to expand some of the ideas from Brawl to make the game better.

Also wants it to be more "customizable" to cater to all the different groups that play the Smash series.

This sounds more like Smash will be more regulated to avoid tacky experiences like that. I haven't played Brawl online, doesn't it have Ranked and Private rooms? That should do it right there.

Haven't played that in a while so a quick check on Wikipedia stated it was just two modes of play with anyone and play with friends.

Yeah, online was awful in Brawl. Final Destination, no items, laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag.

I spent longer in the waiting room than I did in the actual fight.

What's wrong with Final Destination and no items? Not for every game or anything, just once in a while. You know, like having a mad technical wrestling match, no gimmicks or stipulations, testing each other's skill ETC ETC. Like Guerrero/Benoit at Vengeance '03. Beauty.

The Final Destination/No Items thing was a cause of great rifts with the Smash community; with the debate being about playing the game how it "should" be played, or at least a more preferable way according to some.

There's nothing wrong with it at all, until every game you find stresses those settings. This somebody could be annoyed real quick. I don't know what Sak will do about it, though. The only real answer is Custom and Ranked games.
