I'm Polish/Italian and I live in the US. Rooting for the US was nice, but it was a pipe dream. Poland took a quick exit and I got to enjoy the Italians winning it all.

My personal opinion of Materazzi aside, it's just utterly classless trying to blame Zidane's headbutt on him.

While a fantastic footballer, Zidane is human like the rest of us. I wish he'd just suck it up, put his hand up and admit he had a brain explosion. They happen on the field, I've been there, I've done that, we're all human. If he'd just admit it was his own fault, he wouldn't be digging himself deeper and deeper into this hole he's in.

And you get guys like William Gallas calling the Italians 'cheats'. Nevermind that Zidane heatbutts whoever he wants, Henry has been feigning injuries like no other, Malouda dived for the penalty (and even Marcel Desailly said it) and his Chelsea team mates like Joe Cole, Arjan Robben, etc have their issues.

Best team won. Get over it. It would have been a fucking crime if Zidane got his hands on that cup last night.

France didn't play a spectacular game by any means, I don't know what you're talking about. Outside of the game against Brazil and maybe one more, Zidane was nothing special at all. Henry just stands around, sulks and mopes and they are the ones who get all the credit. There are a handful of French players I would have liked to see win it, but Henry and Zidane didn't play like they deserved it yesterday.

Italy have been a better team since the first game. France played better second half but raping? I don't think so. Zambrotta and Cannavaro barely got out of 2nd gear.

Kind of surprised that Zidane got voted best player. Even before the headbutt, he was far from the best player in the whole tournament. He was awful in the opening round and got two red cards in the tournament. Cannavaro got robbed.

Another thing, correct me if I'm wrong here, but everybody keeps insinuating that France's missed PK is the one Zidane would have taken. Based on who was left with the subs they made, I highly doubt that Trezeguet would have been left out.

Yknow i don't condone what Zidane did but you're all overlooking one big thing, Materazzi is a complete wanker (a well known troublemaker at that), one of the biggest in the game, he's punched guys unprovoked in the tunnel, abuses other players constantly, makes really disgusting remarks to them and then claims he's 'ignorant and doesnt know the meaning of the word terrorist' after he said something such to Zidane, fuck him and his winners medal, i'm still gonna remember Zidane for the great player he was not for nutting some racist who deserved it.
