Kolzig has never had a team in front of him, he will thrive in Tampa. Dan Boyle is signed long term to the Lightning so I have no idea what you are talking about unless you mean a trade? They have great special teams and can score a lot of goals, this will be a VERY competitive team.

Sorry I may have been wrong about Boyle, I thought I heard something about a possible trade then maybe.

I agree that they will definitely be scoring a lot, they just need to improve their defensive game a lot. Plus Kolzig is pushing 40, I think he's been a good goalie in the past but hes winding down his career at this point.

so, this Ryder guy any good? or is his the usual over-paid journeyman the Bruins sign to make it look like they're trying to do something?

There's also talk the Bruins are going after Marion Hossa? is there a chance they'll get him and do we really want him?

This is the first off season with Cam Neely as VP, I'm curious if he'll get anything done with this team.

Ryder had a couple of 30 goals years, then got lazy and did nothing. The guy can score when he's right in front of the net as he has a good shot, but don't ask him to carry the puck. He doesn't seem to even know what a pass is, which would be fine if he was good at stickhandling. Which he isn't. The only way to use him is to put him with two superior players and tell him to stay near the goalie.

He's OK, but he's not "4 millions dollars" OK.

He could probably net you another 30 goals playing with a great playmaker/passer in Savard. He's still only 28 and has more left in him, he just had one off year when a lot of young guys on the Habs stepped it up, so he was expendable.

He may not be worth all that cash, but it's sometimes not always about the cash, but what he'll do for you. B's need a finisher. He can do that. They need more goals, that's really all Ryder focuses on.

Dont expect much back checking from him, and sometimes he'll hog the puck, but hey....he's a better skater and player right now than Murray, quite easily, imo.

I like the signing a lot actually. He should do really well under Julien again. I like this move. I like our lines for next year. The year after we have Fernandez, Alberts and Murray off the books which will free up $10 million and the cap will go up so we are in good shape.

Who says Kolzig is on a downward spiral? He had the most wins he has ever had in 5 years, best GAA in 2 years and then he got stabbed in the back by management.

Also Tampa Bay's defence isn't as bad as it looked last year. Without Boyle they are lost but he is back now. Kolzig will do well.

It was a 0.09 improvement, I'd attribute that to the Caps improving overall his 2.91 is also good for the 3rd worst GAA of his career as a starter. His save % was down and actually was the worst of his career. Which further tells me his GAA being better was less to do with him and more to do with Team Defense.
