RP since you probably know I'll direct this at you - what exactly are the problems the Colts are going to have with the cap after this season? I know James' contract is up but I'm sure he's not the only one. Can they afford him as it stands or is someone going to have to renegotiate (assuming they don't let him go and sign someone else)?

From what i know. Edge is obvious. Reggie Wayne is unrestricted free agent. From what i've heard, the Eagles are gunna make a serious run at Reggie. Larry Triplett and David Thorton are restricted free agents. Triplett is probably expendable ( tho i love the guy ) , because of the Corey Simon signing. Thorton probably wont command that much money.

Freeney is under contract , but he has a 5 million dollar escalator in his contract. Probably gunna try to renagotioate.

I've also heard that Jim Irsay is hoping the salary cap rises this year and if so, he will be able to sign these guys. If not. I wouldnt be surprised to see Edge gone.

If Reggie Wayne goes, i'm gunna be really disapointed, but i really dont think Reggie Wayne wants to leave Peyton Manning.

If they do go all the way no doubt people will throw how the Pats have managed the cap in recent years at them. Not surprising though cause it's pretty incredible to win 3 out of 4 while juggling your roster like that.

I think the Colts will be just fine. Almost all there talent is home grown. Bill Polian might be the best in the business at evaluating talent in the draft. I think will be ok

Doesn't manning count for like 17-18mil on the cap next year? any word if he would renegotiate? or does that cause the remainder of that signing bonus to hit right away?

I've read that Manning and Harrison are due a nice chunk of the money next season. I dont know if either are gunna renegotiate or not. I wouldnt expect Manning to renegotiate at all. He's worth every penny IMO. People were saying Manning should do it for the better of the team 2 years ago. He didnt and now we are as good as ever. I think alot of trust will be put in the front office to get what needs to be done, done. Plus someone is gunna get franchised. Probably not Edge, most likely Reggie Wayne if the are aloud to franchise unrestricteds???

I'm pretty sure you can franchise unrestricteds,

If I remember mannings deal, he got like a 34mil bonus (which cap wise breaks over 7yrs, I think it was a 7yr deal), and the first 2 teams of his deal were like 500K to 1mil, because they had cap problems... then it explodes I think next year...

I'm sure they'll figure it out, but a renegotation doesn't mean your not worth it, but in some cases it's worth less money to have a better team, also what they can do is say give him a new deal, with a new bonus and low yearly, so he gets his money upfront, and they can break it over more years at a lower cap hit.

LOL didn't the Bills trade 2 1st rounders for Bledsoe, then trade 2 first rounders for Losman?

Then of course, there's this.

"Why do you think the Bills let you go?"

"Because they're stupid."

I believe they traded one first rounder for bledsoe. They traded last years first rounder to Dallas and a second for Losman and maybe a fifth although i can't remember exactly. I know it wasn't two either way.

I know we miss Pat Williams, but they felt he was asking to much and they thought he could be replaced, which his replacement Edwards was doing an excellant job until he got hurt and it ended his season. One more reason why Donahoe has to go.

You don't trade ANY draft picks for a player who you want to cut, and you definitely don't waste draft picks on his replacement when he's horrible.

Oh and as for Pat? He wasn't asking too much. He can't be replaced. He's the best player on our defense (no offense, Sharper), and Donahoe is stupid. Like Patty said.

Haha yeah anyone remember that commercial where Strahan was on a laptop at the gym looking up the single season sack leader? He was like "Let's see who holds the records for sacks in a season?" then he goes "Oh look! It's Michael Strahan!"

Hilarious.

It's not like they said "let's trade a first rounder for Bledsoe, then cut him". He was on the team for 3yrs. He was actually the scapegoat because Donahoe couldn't put together a good enough O-line to block for more than 2 seconds. As for J.P., He has shown glimpses. He is having his growing pains, which is good. I do remember Eli and Peyton both having horrible rookie years. Although J.P. isn't a 'Rookie', it is his first year playing. So, i'm not giving up on him yet.

As for Fat Pat, he was a hell of a player for us. I don't see the Vikings shutting anybody down defensively though, so he must not be doing that great. Sometimes you have to let people go in this business. They felt they needed to free up money to be able to resign Clements and McGahee will be needing an extension soon. Do i agree with them letting Pat go? I don't know. He is getting older and you need to sign your younger stars.

He is right though Donahoe is stupid.

I remember everyone being shocked when Billicheck delt him to the Bills.

Then everyone figured, Billicheck always gave Bledsoe fits and now he (had) has a QB in his Division that he feels he can beat every time.

"In Bellicheck we trust".

Yeah yeah one bogus sack. I know I know. That shouldn't go so far as to say he didn't have a great season, considering he often is double teamed.

Interesting article I just saw on ESPN by the way. It noted that Strahan, in 13 games against Eagles OT Jon Runyan has 11.5 sacks. Strahan pretty much pwns.

I feel pretty sorry for the 72' Dolphins. It seems the more the Colts win the more writers write about how the Dolphins are jackasses. I dont really no how much of that is true. Or how they celebrate and stuff, but they've been getting blasted for there toastes to the final team to lose. O well. 12-0 . Jacksonville will give us one hell of a game this week. Thats a division game and they are a really good team that no one talks about at all. They are gunna be out there to prove something. I would not be shocked if we lost this game, but i think we will be prepared and ready for anything they throw at us.

Is Garrard still under the helm for the Jags? They seem to be doing quite well in spite of Leftwich's absence.

With respect to Garrard, they played the Browns and won by 6.

Do i agree with them letting Pat go? I don't know. He is getting older and you need to sign your younger stars.

He is right though Donahoe is stupid.
Don't care about the draft picks, I was just saying... it was funny that they made so many moves.

But about Pat, we are shutting people down. We're now 7-5 on a 5-game winning streak... we're doing a little bit better than the Bills , and the one constant has been Pat Williams. He has decimated everyone he's gone against. DT is not a position of speed. It's leverage, strength and technique. You can play DT until you're 40. He was an undrafted free agent who has only been starting a few years, he is still fresh and playing like he was 28. He is a monster, and will be for another 2-3 years at least. You need to sign your best players with smart contracts, regardless of age. You can't always be a young team. The Vikings tried being a young defense and it destroyed them. Now they have Cowart, Sharper, Williams and Winfield on D, and we have been holding teams to like 70 ypg rushing.

So shutting people down? I'd say so. Comparatively, at least. We certainly beat the Giants with 6 yards rushing of our own, didn't we?

Decent article on some upcoming free agents. Reading that I'd be surprised, if he's available, if Denver don't go for Wayne instead of trying to pick up TO. Far less hassle and far greater long-term potential.

I wish, but we don't have enough cap room to sign Wayne. The reason why people talk about TO signing here is he's not gonna get a big contract.

But you know damn well TO is thinking he deserves one. I think TO is going to be in a huge predicament at the end of the year. Whatever team actually does want to sign him, won't want him to a long and lucrative deal, which TO wants. He is going to get something for the short term, not flashy and thats gonna cause another media shitstorm.
