Hamburg have signed Vincent Kompany for £5.1m. So now that's Kompany, Van Der Vaart and Nigel De Jong for less than £10m in the same amount of time it took United to spend £12m on Nemanja and Patrice Evra.

Vidic is quality. In no way is Kompany in his league. And we could have had De Jong at the snap of a finger if we wanted. Van Der Vaart ended up in Germany because the big clubs in Europe wouldn't gamble on him.

I'm not disputing the fact that Vidic is quality (shoulda really left him and Kompany out).

My main gripe is £5m on Patrice Evra (who, now Gabby's back, is gonna do fuck all then leave, most likely for about £2m to someone like Lyon or Marseille) when, for that we could have had Nigel De Jong (younger, more versatile, big potential) and Rafael Van Der Vaart (who I think would probably have played quite a bit towards the latter stages of the seaon, injury barring)

For as long I've been a United fan, I've just never been all that impressed with the way we go about transfers

And we've just sold Jon Spector for £500k. I could never really see him breaking through but he's not a bad player so West Ham may have done alright there

Gattuso for sure but I just can't see it happening. If Ruud does go, then a world class striker. Only problem is, there aren't too many who may be available and are good enough. Fernando Torres would be nice but I can't see us spending £20m on 1 player. I hope I'm wrong though.

Now that I have digital cable in my place, I can start watching FSC again.

With the new Premier League season starting soon, I'm looking for a team to root for (since FSC shows pretty much every match). It's too easy to pick up and root for Man U or Arsenal so I need to learn more about the up-and-coming middle of the league teams that could make some noise in the next few years.

I already have the Chicago Fire to root on and, being 20 mins from the new stadium, go and cheer on in person.

In FIFA '06, I've been playing as Man City, West Ham, or Fulham and I wonder how good they are in real life.

So I'm asking my friends from across the pond to help a US Hooligan out.

We need to do a league that has no transfers during the season (minus the January window). Takes too much effort keeping up and everyone gets bored.

I'm gonna watch more than just the English prem this year. FSC shows that, Bundesliga, Italia Serie A and some one or two other leagues.

English leagues start in early-mid August, yeah. Not too sure about the others, for some reason I seem to remember Serie A starting in September, could be wrong though. I think La Liga starts late August.

Joey Fulham is a good call. Have a wicked nice manager and not full of pricks such as the Man C side. Also have Malbranque who is fucking tits.

In fairness Fulham were like the 3rd best team at home last season and only lost like 2 or 3 games, one of which was when they were completly out played and hammered 3-1 by Pompey i might add.

They beat Chelsea too.

They were just appauling away from home, which is why they finished like 15th and not 3rd.
