Why didn't Bret Hart come out at Wrestlemania 22?
For the class of 2006 thing on the stage? Fink said he was uncomfortable to do it. Did he just not want to hang around for Wrestlemania?

He wasn't ready to be a part of WWE again. He was still really angry I suppose. I think it showed that he was coming around, but still wouldn't appear on the product due to a grudge/on principle.
He accepted the HOF honors, and a dvd set around that same time. I think he was dipping his toes in the water before he dove back in, so to speak. At the time, I felt like he was going to make his return during the Vince/Shawn match. It just seemed too perfect that those 2 were having a match during the same weekend that Bret was in town to be inducted. But it wasn't to be. |

It would have been pretty immense if Shawn and Vince had beaten eachother to a pulp, and Bret's music hit and he came down. Laid them both out, locked in a sharpshooter on Vince. Would have been cool to see him stand over both of them and decide who he pulled over the other for the victory.
Crowd would have gone wild. Especially considering it was a Wrestlemania crowd, and the audience was comprised of more of the older fans back then. Not to mention it was Chicago, and the crowd is always hot there. |

Yeah, figured it would just be something as simple as that. Was just wondering if there was some other story to it that I'd missed/went under the radar. I guess it was a good thing looking back, would have definitely taken away from the anticipation of his current stint if he'd appeared there.

I agree. A return at Mania would have been shocking, but they would have sacrificed a great build and storyline, which a Bret return is worthy of.
Not to mention they'd sacrifice a big draw too |

Do you know if Bret was backstage at Wrestlemania or if he'd already gone home?

He left after the Hall of Fame Ceremony after throwing a bitchfit because he saw Shawn Michaels in the building. Remember, the fucker didn't even want Shawn in the building.

I think i read somewhere that he only agreed to the H.O.F. induction/dvd set to get the rights to his matches or something like that.

I think most people like to come out in the comfort of their own home.
