Lets say TNA had the amount of popularity back in 2005 (Destination X)

'

I started watching TNA shortly before this and looking back at this vid they had a very impressive PPV. Nobody really knew of TNA back then and the only way to watch the weekly show for me was at midnight on Fox Sports Southwest. There was plenty of recognizable faces (Raven, Dustin Rhodes, Jeff Hardy, Kevin Nash, Jarrett, DDP), some decient mid card matches and an amazing Ultimate X match. If TNA had the same ammount of publicity as it had today do you think the PPV would have been bigger than this...

GOD FUCKING DAMMIT!!! Those videos pissed me off!

Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo and anyone else who is a 'big name' in TNA that was also a big name in WCW is killing this fucking company!

I WISH HULK HOGAN WOULD FUCKING DIE!!!

And Ric Flair to retire for real.

Love that second video. Whoever made it didn't even have to really do anything to make it look ridiculous besides change the speed and put that music in the background. Was that their PPV finish? Holy shit.

Rollermacka, are you asking if things would be different if TNA had the same amount of fans that they do now back in 2005? Or are you asking if things would be different if they were the most popular wrestling company in 2005?

Either way, I'm going to go with 'no'.

Wow that first vid made me realize how much TNA rocked back then (with or without the accompanying music) and the 2nd is spot on illustrating just how far they've sank.

They really should take a hard look at their old stuff.

I just noticed Hogans Obama-esqe shirt I wouldn't be surprised if beneath the word "Change" it said into WCW circa 2000 in micro print

Until TNA cuts wrestling's past deadweights(otherwise known as WCW has beens). and stops trying to be just another WWE ripoff, they will never been on top of the wrestling world.

If they truly wanna leave a mark on wrestling history, focus on wrestling instead of entertainment. Then, stop using wrestling's past. Obviously, living in the past has gotten them that awesome 1.5 average rating. Assuming they ever can their need to be WWE #2 and start using the tried and true method of WRESTLING, popularity will never reach it's full potential.

The first video reminded me of why I started watching TNA. The second reminded me why I stopped. They seem to make life way too easy for WWE. I think if people like Hogan etc. didn't shit all over the company, there would be this tiny almost insignificant chance that TNA could be a reasonable company with a decent level of popularity, putting on decent shows, like that seen in the first video. However, at the moment TNA isn't even a threat to Season Three of NXT.

Dang that first one... I remember TNA being watchable back then but I forgot how good it actually was. I was just like... dang that's good. They have the talent still on the roster which makes it all the more sad that they won't put on awesome shows like that.

But that second video... that was horrid. That was sad.

I can't even sit through a TNA show anymore, even the MCMGs seem 50% less entertaining with the new "realistic" direction meaning everyone is bland and the production still looks like shit. It's shot exactly like The Office, except the joke is that they're serious. Taz and especially Tenay's commentary is fucking appalling, it's like theyve told Tenay to pick fights with Taz over the smallest of comments then we get a static shot of them aimlessy having an argument for 10 minutes. Bring back Don West.

They have always had retarded booking but at least the product used to be watchable.

TNA started losing momentum right after their highest point of interest. They signed Kurt Angle -- the best wrestler in the world -- and they follow up by signing Vince Russo. TNA did not need a creative change in direction, and the attention-seeking writing of Vince Russo ruined a lot of good will TNA had going for them.

It's four years down the track, and the olympiad has not seen TNA make any major ground. This is with the inclusion of big wrestling names -- like Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair -- and it doesn't come much bigger than that.

If TNA did some simple shit, like continued to write-off some of the older guys that can't go nearly as well anymore, and had them retire to some sort of road agent-type roles; and if they really worked on things such as their production, and putting emphasis where the WWE doesn't put emphasis; they could really gather some momentum behind them.

One of the best storylines in wrestling this year involved Kurt Angle starting at the bottom of the roster and working his way up to the top and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. What worked about it, was that shit was simple. But they complicated things by adding the "drama" of Angle's career being on the line. Less is often more; and Angle's career being on the line actually telegraphed endings -- which SUBTRACTED drama from the storyline! And now TNA has the problem where Kurt Angle is written off from television.

How is TNA going to bring Angle back? Is someone going to win him back his contract? That is stupid, because beyond all, Angle is a threat to anyone's chances at being TNA World Champion. Angle should fight for himself, and others should have the confidence in themselves to battle The Immortals and Fortune without his aid. I'm almost expecting a segment to air where Dixie Carter is lying in bed, exhausted, and says "That is amazing. You can have your job back," leading to the camera panning over to reveal Angle next to her. He lets out a "Wooo!" and the TNA intro starts. That would probably be more awesome than anything TNA has in-store for the angle.

I feel like I say this shit all the time, though. TNA has three stooges syndrome going on in their main event, not really knowing who they want to be their top face against Jeff Hardy. Is it Matt Morgan, Mr. Anderson, D'Angelo Dinero, Samoa Joe or Kurt Angle? It's times like these that secondary titles become useful, but AJ Styles is almost keeping the TNA Television Title invisible.
