SPOTLIGHT ON: Shabazz Palaces

hi there

fake here

I feel a certain responsibility for this place now. Like I need to add something of value to get people to come in here. Even though I know like 79% of posters here aren't going to like the music I post, probably, nor will they read this. HOWEVER, forum politics have lead to this dictatorship (via a mutual love of the same general audio aesthetic)

THAT BEING SAID

I am going to periodically post about artists I feel you guys should czech out. Maybe TPWW will become the new relevant tastemaking forum we've all been looking for.

But probably not (via Metallica)

Anyway, I have praised this album in the "Rate the Last Album You Listened To" thread, giving it an absurdly high 9.5/10.

With good reason. This is the best hip-hop album of the year.

Black Up is the new release from Shabazz Palaces. He is one of the bros from Digable Planets. If you're not familiar with them, think early 90s underground jazz rap (Tribe, De La Soul, Pharcyde, etc). This album literally explores all of the best areas hip-hop has ever explored, in one album. IDM, psychedelia, jazz... so on and so forth. It's completely unpredictable.

Any other fans out there? I did see Triple A praising this as the only rap he's listened to in forever.

Check it out, lads.
