Creativity, Local bands and new bands.
Just some stuff I always wondered about and this isn't anything personal just some thoughts-
There is so many new and local bands around, catering to some scene and even though many of them play dime-a-dozen music they are skilled enough to write songs and play on stage but yet many new and local bands seem to lack the will to be creative. They just seem to enjoy playing the music that they already like or grew up on, but what's the point? Ban ds who do something unique style wise deserve the attention more than bands who just play "what they like". There's nothing wrong with being influenced by genres and styles- at all. But it's boring if you just decide to be version 2 of that band, a heavier, faster version.. because another hundred bands already did that. Why not experiment more? Why limit yourself to one or two styles? From my understanding the main goal is to express yourself and bring new melodies and sounds to the world, and not be worried about opinions. Don't you think if bands do something new and crazy or weird, more people would care? I mean there's bands I love but when I hear other bands who pretty much almost copied that style, I just feel like what's the point? ![]() ![]() "EVERYTHING YOU DO IS A PIECE OF A PLANE PLUMMETING TOWARDS A PITIFUL, DYING EARTH BUT YOUR ART, WHAT YOU CREATE IS STEPPING ONTO THE BURNING WING AND FORGETTING SILLY THINGS LIKE LIFE AND DEATH FOR A MOMENT JUST TO ENJOY FOR ONE SECOND A GLIMPSE OF BEAUTY BEFORE YOU ARE REDUCED TO ASHES" - Marilyn Manson 12-15-1999 |
