Punk band taking a bigger piss on their legacy
The question is which Punk band is taking a bigger piss on their legacy.

Black Flag: As you know, there's two different versions touring around this year. The Charles Dukowski(sp?) version is focusing mainly on the US, while the Greg Ginn version is playing mainly Europe, but their first US show is at Muddy Roots, which is an Underground Country and Bluegrass festival.

Misfits: For the past I don't know how long, the only long term member of the band in the group has been Jerry Only. I knew something was awry when, during the 25th anniversary tour, they were touring with two members of the Ramones and Robo. It was the last tour featuring Michael Graves (Conservative punk extraordinaire and reasonable replacement for Danzig) and Doyle. They've since been touring with former Black Flag guitarist Dez Cadena and Murphy's Law Drummer Chupacabra.

Other: Name them and their sins.

Only Black Flag I really listen to is the Rollins stuff so I'll say misfits.

As a longtime Offspring fan it saddens me to see 2 or so throwaway garbage songs on each album but Days Go By from last year was a decent offering. For this it HAS to be the Misfits.

I chose Meat Puppets because their bassist was jailed in 2002 for refusing to pay a damned parking ticket he got when using a handicapped space. The police report alleged that he also flipped off a granny, but that is anecdotal...

Blink is more power-pop but could be described as punk I suppose. Not like they sold out or changed drastically though, they've pretty much been the same for their existence.

Ever read any of Rollins free writing? I own about 5 of his books but may have outgrown some of them. Bought them at the end of high school, beginning of college when young men go through that "fuck it" phase. It's alright stuff

I actually thought about that video right after I posted this.

I have no problem with Jerry Only wanting to make money. It's his right and the guy has to eat somehow and Steroids don't come cheap. I just hate that he's passing off the band with Punk Rock All Stars as the Misfits. Mainly due to the fact that the primary creative force behind the Misfits was Danzig, though I could buy them with Graves and the bare minimum Doyle.

I definitely want to see the Greg Ginn version of Black Flag.

Oddly enough, the only original Crowbar guy in the band is Kirk Windstein, but I'm fine with that due to him being the primary creative force behind the band.

Since Hank won the thread, it's now about Best Punk Bands of all Time. My entry?
