WWE To Put Out 39 PPVs Per Year?
Quote:
Recent reports suggest that WWE management is considering increasing the amount of PPVs to 39, starting with the year 2007. Many believe that this could mean that the time is now for a third WWE brand, replacing Sunday Night Heat and Velocity, which have been struggling for ratings as of late.
Reports concerning the return of ECW have been widespread, but since many WWE employees have shot down these rumors, do not expect the extreme hardcore wrestling of ECW to return just yet.
Former head of talent relation, Jim Ross, is said to the main voice behind the proposal to increase the number of PPVs, believing that 'More PPVs mean more cash'. This theory is shared by Vince McMahon, if the more recent increase in PPVs is anything to go by.
Many superstars believe that this will mean a much better in-ring product, as they are encouraged to pull out all the stops on PPV. A man who has been working closely with the superstars, in order to get the most out of them, is Pat Patterson. One superstar, who did not wish to be named, said 'There's some bumps in my arsenal that only Pat Patterson knows about'.
If WWE goes ahead with the massive PPV increase, we are warned to expect more non-wrestling segments, such as those involving Divas or GMs in recent months, in order to reach the 2 and half hour minimum length.
3 brands would mean 13 PPVs per brand per year, and WWE has made no comment on possible price changes to their PPV product, but it is believed that they will remain the same, a choice that would almost certainly anger many fans, who simply can not afford to pay such fees more than once a month.

As long as I get them free, it sounds good to me.
