A new member with some things to say...

I've just joined TPWW as of yesterday, but I've been visiting for a while. As a wrestling fan my entire life, I agreed with the majority of what people were saying in early 2001 and even late 2000. The WWE(well, they were still the WWF then) slowly began to lose steam. Shows became boring and mundane. Storylines, which I defend often among my jaded wrestling fan friends, were becoming incredibly lame.

It became so bad for me, that in the middle of 2001, I offically tuned out. I stopped watching Raw, stoped watching SmackDown. I stopped watching wrestling because it had become so bad. But then came November 2003. As I was sitting at home monday night, I saw that Raw was coming on in about 5 minutes. Bored to tears, I watched. It wasn't the best Raw ever, but I personally thought it was a significant improvement.

I've now returned to watching wrestling on a weekly basis, but the real point of this first post is for me to vent about some things that have been bugging me in the wrestling world.

Firstly, John Cena. When I first saw this guy, I wasn't impressed. Even after watching him for a while, I'm still not impressed. His mic skills are medicore, his in-ring work is in desperate need of help, and I'm sick and tired of Cena being pushed down my throat.

Secondly, the lack of good cruiserweight matches. WCW had an amazing cruiserweight division. TNA has the incredible X Division, but what does WWE have? A standard and boring excuse for a cruiserweight division. Sure, they've got a couple of good ones. The obvious one being Mysterio, but he's been significantly watered down as of late. When Nitro would come on, I was guaranteed at least one good cruiserweight match, and there was even usually a title change. Hell, sometimes you even got two cruiserweight matches if you were lucky.

Now, you're lucky if you even get ONE good cruiserweight match. The last great match I saw put on by two cruiserweights was on Velocity. Jamie Noble vs. Paul London. Great match. But still, let them fly. Let the cruiserweights do what they do best...fly.

Thirdly, anyone who knows me knows I'm a huge fan of that Mexican wrestling machine known as Psicosis. I was such a huge mark for him back in WCW. The guy had amazing written all over him, and he was seemingly pushed to the sidelines by the man I like to call "Little Triple H" Rey Mysterio. Don't get me wrong, I love Rey Mysterio, and think that he can put on some amazing matches when he puts his mind to it, but back in WCW, he was the cruiserweight division's golden boy.

Even with him being on TNA a bit lately, he's constantly jobbing. The guy's amazing, yet he's always pushed aside for someone else because the teenage girls think he's "hot". Rey Mysterio is amazing(WCW Rey), but I'll always think Psicosis is just as amazing. I could go on and on about Blitzkrieg, and how he was pushed aside as well, but that's another day.

Well, I've probably already wasted enough of your time. So feel free to call me a loser, or just say my post is too long, I await responses.

I'd reply more but I am tired. Welcome though.

Oh, and when you say you stopped watching wrestling, did you watch any TNA (they started up soon after you stopped) at all? Or wrestling all together?

I see you mentioned them, so just curious.

Nah man that's true what you're saying. Other than the technical clinics that are put on by (they don't need listing but: Benoit, Angle, Guerrero, Jericho (BTW the top four "wrestlers" in the WWE ((top two of their respective shows too))
The cruiserweight division is the best part of any wrestling program bar none. As far as showcasing what true wrestling is, the formula should always involve technical matches and cruiserweights. Yes there always needs to be that glitz and glammer and those monsters (really where else would you see someone of Big Show's nature, love him or hate him guys like him are a staple)
I think the prob is that obviously the WWe has put the emphasis on super heavy super slow super old beefcakes and haphazard storylines that are worse than what my mom watches everynight on fuckin' sOaP net.
The Monday Night WAR dvd proved that WCW beat Vince b/c of the showcase of the cruiserweights and the influx of Mexican and Japanese wrestlers. Vince sucks what else is new. But you're right about Blitzkrieg, Rey, and Psicosis. Don't forget Juvi and Ultimo (when he was there)

I agree with you on the Cruiserweights completly...I think they could be headlining shows, but knowing Vince, that won't be happening anytime soon.

As for Cena being shoved down our throats, I think you missed a lot before you started watching in November. Cena pretty much became one of the most over guys on Smackdown on his own, and around the same time the WWE responded to this and started giving him a main event push, he was forced to water down his act due to the FCC. Still though, the fact remains, he is ultra over...just look at how well his merchindise sells.

Yeah, Cena's definitely over. I can tell by the huge pops he's always getting on SmackDown. But I just can't stand the guy. I hate his wrestling, I hate his mic work, and I just really hate him. I really can't put my finger on it.

Back to the cruiserweights. Everytime I watch a TNA show, whether it's Impact or a PPV, I'm always guaranteed an amazing X Division match. Whether it's Styles, Red, Sabin, Shane or Kazarian, I usually get a great match. With the WWE, I'm forced to watch cruiserweight matches with nothing interesting or great happening. Speaking of which, TNA really reminds me of WCW. I can't really describe why, but when I watch TNA, I'm consantly reminded of how great WCW really was.

Maybe it's Mike Tenay, maybe it's the X Division, or maybe, just maybe, it's the great WRESTLING that's put on in TNA. Yeah, the WWE stands for World Wrestling Entertainment, and Entertainment is a big part of it, but the key word in that is, and always will be, Wrestling.

What ever happened to Blitzkrieg? He was incredible.

Either way, I miss WCW. Yes it was ruined with corrupt bullshit and nonsense story lines, but the more I think about it, the more I realize. WCW owned the bollocks off WWF/E.

Awesome stables, incredible workers, not to mention the cruiserweight division of everyones dreams. Psychosis, Juvi, Rey, Jericho at the time, just to name a few. It got no better than that.

well you're not going to see the same Rey Mysterio in WWE as you did in WCW first off because of his injuries. The crusierweight division is a bit of a joke though. They had Ultimo and hardly used him

You shouldn't say anything about John Cena because you didn't see Cena from FEB 2003-Survivor Series 2003. I bet your opinion will change if you saw him then. Cena was my absolute favorite back then, now like you, I cannot stand him. I would check out the Word Life DVD if I were you.
