My ethernet connection doesn't work properlly
When ever i'm connected via USB there's no problems with the internet, but when I try my etherent it works for about 5 minutes then the line goes down.
The IP address is still valid. It's been suggested to be that I may have to pysically move my PCI card to somewhere else on the motherboard? Which sounds odd. Anyone else have similar probs? Not sure if you tried this, but try using a different Ethernet cable. I've had scenarios like that before that were a result of either a slice in the wire (caused by stapling) , and one where the cable had been terminated incorrectly ( ie , a blue wire was where a green one was supposed to be). Both scenarios allowed the cable to be functional in some sense , but also caused constant collision and thus slow to non existant signal.

network card also cost like 10 bucks, might just want to save yourself any hassle and buy a new one with a new cat5 cable.

I had this problem....was told that it had something to do with running it off USB for a while...all I did was reinstal my network card drivers

dave, get things straight. ask me first. Also, back to basics, when you reinstall, maybe installing your mobo drivers and ethernet drivers would help.

Cause we all know JJ is far smarter than the rest of us put together, hell, even Bill Gates has been talking to JJ for ideas to make Longhorn better...

XP is usually pretty good at loading NIC drivers. If its an onboard NIC, its probably a Realtek chip, they dont tend to have many driver issues, esepcially the 8139 series

Not wishing to sound dim here, but if it was a driver issue, that would mean that I wouldn't be able to do anyhting on the net, but i can for about 5 minutes, then it goes down.
