Jose Canseco

How much stock do you put in his allegations (rampant steroid abuse) that he revealed in his newest book.

Do you plan on/have you bought his book?

I hear today he's got his 2000 World Series Ring for sale on a website for $40,000.

I just found this in Sid Hartman's column in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, so it should be pretty reliable. Just some butter for the bread per se.

Story questioned

New Ulm's Terry Steinbach, who was a teammate of both Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire during Steinbach's 10 years with the Oakland Athletics, doesn't believe Canseco's book about players being injected with steroids.

"I was in the training room a lot -- being a catcher you've got bumps and bruises, and you're constantly getting ice and heat, you know how that goes," said Steinbach, who is in spring training with the Twins as an instructor.

"I never once saw a player injecting a player or a player injecting himself. I never saw a player fiddling with syringes or players having vials of steroids, and you would think as much as you are around the clubhouse, if it was as bad as Jose is saying, that pretty much everyone there would have seen it.

"Here's a guy that comes out and says he injected himself, but again I never physically saw him do it. I don't know whether he did it at home or if he did it in the car or where he did it, but I never saw him the A's clubhouse inject himself."

Steinbach said Canseco never did work out much, while McGwire worked out all of the time.

"If he did show up, it was a three- or four-minute workout, and he would be gone," Steinbech said, an indication that Canseco did use steroids to get strong. "McGwire was my roommate in 1987, and he used to work out so much I told him to get a life."

Steinbach said he is looking forward to working with catcher Joe Mauer in Twins spring training. Mauer missed most of last season after left knee surgery.

"I think he's got a tremendous future," Steinbach said. "I was so impressed with what I saw the last two spring trainings with him and was very excited for him to start his major league career last year coming out of spring. Then, to have that unfortunate injury ... hopefully he's done he's over with that he's back on track and hopefully he'll have a tremendous year on the start of a long, long career."

Check Ebay, there are a lot of rings for sale... There's currently (or recently ended) a Pats 2001 ring, the guy I think is still in the league, played 2yrs in NE and then I think went to the Lions... Most "Ring Sales" the black out the name on the ring during the auction, for the Pats ring they didn't/

As for Canseco, I put credit in ones like McGuire and people he says he "taught" or "Sold". I put no credit in ones he said "looks like" ie: Clemens.

He's supposed to have something else he's going to "drop" which is supposed to be a bigger bombshell.

I wouldn't be shocked the way LaRussa has been trashing him in the press that we find out LaRussa is somehow invovled. Otherwise, I can't think of what else he could have, besides proving a coach or owner was somehow involved.

Mike Greenwell has been trying to take Conseco's 1988 MVP award since the book was released, because he believes it's unfair that a clean player like himself should be denied while Conseco and so many others have been able to slip through and win it.

Probably a battle not worth fighting as much as I dislike Conseco.

Greenwell was great, good hitter and fun to watch in the outfield, they had him on the radio the other day and asked about his kid who plays baseball and football in HS (I think Greenwell is a Football coach at the HS besides his other biz) and Greenwell said something about him following his dads footsteps and they said "Really, so he's taking out Centerfielders?"

Anyway, the whole MVP thing it did cost Greenwell money in contract negotations, but that can't be fixed now.

Roids were not listed as being against MLB rules, however someone said the MLB did have a rule against "Illegal drugs" which covers roids because you need a persription to take them.

I dunno. Just seems like he's pulling out all the drama he can to get some money. I mean, the guy has had a case of lying among other things that make me question his book.

lol i have a feeling BCWWF the only reason you posted this was to get Joe Mauer's name in it.
