How would you have run the invasion angle?
Given the resources WWF had.

I think they should have waited. Wait until they could sign the Goldbergs, Hogans, Nashs, etc. Eric Bishoff becomes the new commissioner of WWE. Then after awhile (I would think the night after WrestleMania X8 and some WCW guys had won titles), BOOM! Eric Bishoff says that he has waited for so long for this moment. Beginning tonight, he will take back what his rightfully his... the wrestling world. Then WCW superstars join Eric Bishoff in the ring. Eric announces that the "Monday Night War" just became a full time war!
You have the war go on for a year. Then you have SOME dream matches and what not for WrestleMania XIX. Then at WrestleMania XX and you have the ultimate 20-man Elimination Tag Team match. The top-10 from WWE versus the top-ten from WCW. WINNER TAKE ALL! During this match, you have some "dream face-offs" and sh*t. However, If they wanted too they could have some more dream matches at WrestleMania XX and then have them also be in the 20-man tag. Sure, it would stretch the war, but I think it would be good enough to last that long. Notice the differences... NO McMahon Family Fued, NO "Who the hell is that guy?" for the WCW Main Eventers, NO "Steve Austin and Kurt Angle in WCW", and some others. While I don't wanna get to in depth (because I can't be assed). The only problem is that we would be WAAAAY behind as far as "future stars" are concerned. |

Stupid fucking things like having TEST win the fucking immunitybattle royal and, like JamesSteele said, the lesser-known-names and McMahon-o-rama KILLED it. People who say that it was the WCW workers that didn't generate interest in the invasion should get their head examined. The WWF brass didn't have enough brains to do it right, nor did they have enough trust in the WCW talent to pull it off right.
JamesSteele, your idea is the best I've heard yet. They should have waited it all out. Vince should've said that WCW is dead, that he's finally killed it (not turn it into Shane vs. Vince)...then a year or two later, something about Raw just doesn't seem right...maybe have nothing happen for a few minutes. Then, strangely show backstage WCW wrestlers taking over the locker room. All the big names are there. Then, Eric Bischoff comes out to the stage and announced his declaration of war on Vince. |

I would've started the storyline A.S.A.P., not just let three or four PPVs pass by. Also, while waiting for Flair, the original nWo, Mysterio, Steiner, and Goldberg, I would've had Booker T., Diamond Dallas Page, and to a lesser extent, Buff Bagwell spearhead the "Invasion." |

How would I have run it?
Don't know for sure. How would I have done it better than the WWF? Wiped my ass on a sheet of paper and faxed it to Titan Towers. |

I think what would have been cool is after a long while
Even better have; Vince and Eric in a match for the company. Have Eric put Vince in some sort of submission. After Vince is trying to get to the ropes have they ref say he tapped out. When vince is confused on why he lost the Ref ripps off the make up mask to reveal Bret Hart |

I'd have used WCW/ECW's biggest stars and put them over rather than water down the Invasion with WWF guys, and have the storyline focus on the McMahon family feud. Too bad Goldberg, Nash, Sting, Flair, and others had contracts with Time Warner that ran during the Invasion, otherwise they could've been utilized to their full potential.

First of all, none of the neccesary components of WCW's main event tier were involved. I would have been extremely patient (maybe not even making it public that WWE had purchased WCW) and signed the following (including those who actually were in the angle):
Eric Bischoff to run the show, Goldberg, Sting, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Hulk Hogan, DDP, Scott Steiner, Lance Storm, Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman, Jeff Jarrett, Booker T and Mike Awesome. I would have drafted Big Show, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Ric Flair, Dean Malenko and Eddie Guerrero back to the WCW side. The first PPV Card would've looked something like this, and would have taken place at WrestleMania X-8: -Stone Cold vs. Goldberg -The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan -Triple H vs. Chris Jericho -Rob Van Dam vs. Sting -Kurt Angle vs. Diamond Dallas Page -Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio vs. The Hardy Boyz -Vince McMahon vs. Ric Flair -The Undertaker & Kane vs. The Outsiders -Edge & Christian vs. Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko Most importantly, most of the WCW guys would have actually gone over, and without cheating or looking like complete and total tools. Around Summerslam time, I would've had a huge 5-on-5 tag team match for the ownership of Smackdown. Team WCW wins and then they turn Smackdown into Nitro. I would run both shows as seperate entities before having them collide again at WrestleMania XIX where the losing side must disban forever. Of course, the WWE finally wins and the 2-year angle would be over. |

I agree that the WWF should have waited a while before the InVasion storyline. IMHO they should have waited until Eric Bischoff and WCW main event stars such as Sting, Goldberg, Randy Savage, Scott Steiner and others were available. WCW would then invade and try to lure WWF workers who used to work for them, such as Benoit and Guererro, to join them. Then, as WCW was establishing itself and beating WWF in matches, ECW under Paul Heyman would arrive and do the same thing. The rivalry would be three-way, ie no Alliance, and the likes of Stone Cold and Kurt Angle would NOT jump ship.
Then, Bischoff would announce that WCW was about to defeat both ECW and WWF as a result of his latest signings *cue black and white screen* the nWo. Hogan, Hall and Nash would be expected to join WCW and help them win the war, but instead they decide to ally themselves to nobody and combat all three factions, with the intent on bringing down not just the WWF but the entire wrestling industry. They would then be joined by former nWo members from WCW and WWF. The four-way war would continue until Survivor Series the following year. During this time, each of the organisations would at some stage gain the upper hand and then, by the end of the storyline, all four would be at a stalemate. They would agree that Survivor Series would be winner takes all, with title unification matches, and the Champions guaranteed a job regardless of who wins. The one thing I’d leave out would be the immunity battle royal. The main event would be a 20-man, four team elimination match; the rules to which I will now explain. One team in each corner, two guys in the ring. Eliminations occur by pin, submission, DQ, KO or count-out. You can tag whoever you like. You may think that the longer a man stays on the apron, the less likely he is to be eliminated, so members of rival teams may refuse to be tagged – to counter this, if a wrestler refuses a tag, he is instantly disqualified. Team WWF – Stone Cold, the Rock, Triple H, Kurt Angle and the Undertaker. Team WCW – Sting, Goldberg, Booker T, DDP and Ric Flair. Team ECW – Rhyno, Bubba Ray Dudley, D-Von Dudley, Rob Van Dam and Raven. Team nWo – Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Big Show (re-named the Giant) and X-Pac (re-named Syxx). Obviously, WWF would win. Order of elimination (complete teams): ECW, nWo, WCW. I’d like to think that, with the proper planning and contract negotiations, this storyline could have been achieved. What do the rest of you think? Afterthought: I'd also like to think that Hulk Hogan would turn face and screw the nWo and WCW out of victory, but this could have been a little too predictable from a smart fan's perspective, I think. Plus McMahon would want the WWF to win cleanly. |

The Royal Rumble would've started it.
Imagine how great it would be for the ECW/WCW stars to come down during the RUmble as the surprises. |

I would have realized how stupid it is to run the Invasion angle off of only Booker T, DDP and Bagwell and not do it at all.
