So when did Vince actually decided to start performing?

I can't remember the first day when Vince started performing in storylines. I'm pretty sure it was during the HBK vs. Bret Hart screw job thing and then Stone Cold came down and interupted it, that's how the Vince vs. Stone Cold thing started. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Vince started using the "No Chance In Hell" catchphrase way before he started performing in storylines. I remember Vince started saying "No Chance in Hell" during the Hell In a Cell match with Undertaker vs. HBK when Vince was the commentator at the time. I think that's how this evil owner character of Vince got all started.

*sigh*

I miss the old days when Vince was commentator with Jerry the King Lawler. Those two were gold together at the announcer table. Not to mention, Vince also was the first announcer to start using "BAH GAWD" and "I DON'T BELIEVE DIS" before J.R. started doing it a lot. Vince was a much better announcer than J.R. J.R. is annoying today. I kind of wish Vince and King Lawler were still announcing today.

I don't think he ever chose to exactly, I think the Bret Hart thing just kinda forced it to happen.

Now that I think of it, you're right. I figure Vince started performing during the Bret vs. HBK feud. Just couldn't remember everything since it was so long ago.

The No Chance in Hell thing really began before the 99 Rumble when Vince said Austin had "No Chance in Hell" of winning the Rumble, then the No Chance in Hell theme Vince uses was the theme of the show then after that Vince started using it as his entrance theme. But yeah the Montreal Screwjob is really what made Vince a heel so then he carried that over with Stonecold.

i remember that Vince said on TV that he was the owner of the WWF and he stopped announcing, that kinda began him being on screen. Then the screwjob thing had people booing him so he became an on air personality

BTW, for future reference, we do have a Wrestling Q & A forum for these sort of questions.

And the way I remember it, like everyone said, he was already an on air guy before the screw job, but it was not until after it that the "heel owner" character was born. I think after SS 97, he cut a promo the following RAW, and that really let his character take off.

I think the screwjob performance was just try out for Vince to see if he wanted to perform full time. It's Vince's decision if he wants to perform or not. I guess he really enjoyed performing and having a lot of fun with his character, I guess that is why he is still performing today. For all in good fun.

And what is the rest of the family on TV for, are we being punished for being sinners or what?

I don't know I think it started right before the Shawn Michaels versus Steve Austin Wrestlemania main event, he basically started talking about he didn't approve of Steve Austins antics and that's how he beacame a super heel. Shane was basically a way of making Vince look like an even bigger asshole, and Stephnie was just a silly way of making The Undertaker look like a mega heel.

Heh, I was watching the Ultimate Ric Flair DVD, and was watching the spot on Superstars where Flair attacked Piper at the announcers table. In the commotion, Piper smacked Vince with a wooden chair.

I don't know, I just found it amusing. I thought Stone Cold giving Vince the Stone Cold Stunner on Raw back in '97 was the first instance where Vince was assaulted (inadvertent or otherwise) on TV.
