Is it possible?

At this point in time, even given intense funding and say a wonderful Prime Time television slot, would it be possible for a promotion to start giving WWE a run for their money? When WCW started to gain traction it was because they were picking up all the talent WWE could no longer aford or felt no longer drew in money. I mean before Hogan, Savage, and Lugar showed up on Turner's shit, they really didn't have much other then Flair.

So my point still stands, is it even possible right now for any promotion to gain enough steam to give WWE a credible run for their money. The only "Big Name" wrestlers who arn't signed into a WWE contract in one way or another would be Rock (busy doing movies) and to a much lesser extent Lesnar and Goldberg (Lesnar couldn't even capatolize due to him signing a stupid contract). If we look at the number 2 promotion in North America right now, it's TNA, and they certainly couldn't touch WWE even with a new time slot and a HUGE money increase.

So what would it take to get a rival company to compete on WWE's level? History has shown time and time again that hyping Cruiserweights only or hyping hardcore wrestling only won't get you over. And with two brands WWE is soaking up every talented (sans a handful don't bother telling me who) wrestler on the scene today. This is more or less my depressing way or completly surrendering to the rule that is WWE. Here's to a good long while of uninspired wrestling.
