The Da Vinci Code

I saw it last night, and I thought it was just a regular thriller, for the most part. Average to above average. It went on far too long for the story it was trying to tell, and some of the acting wasn't up to par. Also, it felt too much like it was following a formula. Hanks and Tatou get into trouble, Hanks and Tatou get helped by someone, that someone turns on them, and then they narrowly escape. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. Although, I did like the ending (the real one, not one of the what seems like thousands of endings after the climax).

Just saw it. Haven't read the book yet. Kept telling myself after I heard they were making the movie that I'd read it before and that I had plenty of time. Well, time ran out. I'll still read it sometime.

It was decent. Not terrible like reviews have been saying but nothing great either. Definite pacing issues however. Worth checking out but nothing to rush out and see.

I had no interest in the book because of all the hype so wasn't really excited about the movie either, that said I thought it was'nt too bad.

As said already it was kinda regular (recurring theme this summer) even with two and a half hours it seemed to me like everything was being crammed in. The sequence with Teabing for example where about half the plot is explained seemed a bit cheap.

Ian Mckellan made the movie for me, that and the digs at the French.

The movie annoyed me due to all the changes in the movie (as in differences from the book) Also when the crippled guy says "We are in the middle of a war" (Or whatever along those lines he said) I immediatly thought of the X men "We are in the middle of a war charles, which side will you choose". Had me laughing for a while.

Same here, though I was thinking of him as Gandalf, especially at the gates when he says "you can pass".

I wanna bang Audrey Tatou.

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if that was an intentional thing that they added just for him.

I finally saw it today, and I was a little disappointed. It was fun, but I think that story was much more suited to the page than it was to the screen. So much of the story is one character explaining to another character what something means, and that doesn't translate well in movies. Stage plays, yes, but "Da Vinci Code On Broadway" might not be such a draw.

I saw it, and it was definately better than the reviews it got, but it isn't one of the movies that is going to go down as one of the all-time best. That being said, it is obvious that it was better in the book form but I thought they did a good job of making a complicated story easy to follow in the movie.

The only part I disagree with about the movie being "an ordinary thriller" is that it did have more depth to it. It's not just a murderer chasing Harrison Ford or something, there was a lot of history intermingled within, and I thought that added a lot of depth to it. It was a long movie, but although I was never super thrilled I was never bored either.

I saw it yesterday. First time I went to the theatres in like 3 years.

I didn't like it at all. It was just too hard to understand or follow, I didn't understand a word they were saying, and I just waited for most of the movie to be over so I could leave. The only part I enjoyed was at the end where Tom Hanks cuts himself shaving. When he was doing it I said to myself "Come on, do it" and he did it.

I thought it was shit - and I liked the book.

I can't put my finger on why it was so crappy, but i think it was Tom Hanks and the chick just didn't do either character any justice at all. Then again that probably had a lot to do with Ron Howards directing (I usually like Howards films and I like Tom Hanks too) Maybe it was totally miss cast from the director down. Except Ian McKellen, he stole the show - although there wasn't a lot to steal.

I thought it was pretty good, I went in knowing nothing about the film. Thought it did well to get so much information in the film without overloading the audience so they could understand what's going on.

It had me gripped, and even though you know the plot is fiction, it's not totally outside the realms of possibility

I saw this movie last week but never got around to making a review for you everybody.

C+

About 45 minutes in I immediately thought "This is going to be National Treasure with alot of religous bullshit." When Ian McKellan came in I was begging him to drop a car on Tom Hanks or for Jean Reno to pull out his trusty sniper rifle and drop him from 2 countries away. That's how predictable it got, and how close those 2 movies were.

You should actually read the book. I got done reading it last night, and 3/4ths of the time, I was figuring out shit before the characters did (half the fun and something I think Brown was trying to do, actually). I have been wanting to see the movie (before reading this book) because I wanted to see what the controversy was about.

The last book in the trilogy that DVC is the second of will be released by 07. Something tells me Hollywood will be wanting to see how that one does in controversy and story (I'm hoping for a little bit of a psychological catfight between Langdon's two love-flames from the books, Sophie and whoever the hell he got it on with in the first book. Only seems right.).

If for nothing else, seeing the movie'll sove the mystery for some reason as to what the hell happened to Tom Hanks' HAIR?!

The movie was not as good as it should have been but not as bad as I expected it to be. The book is a thousand times better than the movie, and anybody who won't read the book because of the movie is just too lazy to read a book.

There was a lot of inconsistancies in the movie, they butchered the ending, and the acting was disappointing. Tom Hanks is the perfect guy for the role but he played it horribly. Had I not read the book first I'd be completely lost watching the movie trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

I can't believe there was such an uproar from religious groups because of this movie.

I'd also like to point out how funny it was to see a film that uses the line:

'Quick! We have to get to a library'

Actually, I didn't read it. DVC was my intro into this series, but I read on Wikipedia that this was a sort of trilogy that Brown was planning. I forget the name of the third now, though.
