I'm pumped for Armageddon

Yeah, the WWE has not been turning out the best PPVs recently, but I am still pumped for the SmackDown! brand's outing. I mean, SmackDown! has been the best wrestling show on television for many months, now, plus it's put on the best WWE PPVs, and I mean, just look at the card:

Gregory Helms vs. Jimmy Wang Yang for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship

If these guys are given time, this could be a fantastic little match. Helms is pretty over as a heel, and his run on SmackDown! has been great. JWY is over as a babyface, and Amy Zidian is HOT! I don't so much mind it when the WWE brings in useless whores, when they are used to get guys over, and not take up TV time that could go to someone like Yang.

Give these men ten minutes to put on a show, at the very least. They could help get interest in the Cruiserweight Division. Helms should remain, Cruiserweight Champion, in my opinion. Have him go into the Rumble as Champion, as it marks the one-year anniversary of his third CW Title win, and him going over a year as Champion will help get him over. Have Yang win the match via disqualification, when Jamie Noble attacks Yang, setting up a three-way feud for the belt. That'd be sweet.

Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. William Regal & Dave Taylor

This should be fucking awesome. All four men can work, and they've been working well. The WWE Tag Team Champions have slowly and surely gotten over based on their long-run as Champs, and the sympathetic way they take a beating. Ashley Massaro hasn't hurt, either. A lot of people detest the drama surrounding the team teasing a split, but I quite like it. It gives Regal and Taylor a way to beat the Champs, justifying them challenging for the belts, without making the Champions look like shit. It gives me hope that the WWE will put them over at Armageddon.

It is still too early to take the belts off London & Kendrick, in my opinion. There are no credible face teams to challenge Regal & Taylor, and switching the titles for no reason at all will hurt PL & BK #2 in the long-run. They're babyfaces, so it's OK to put them over on PPVs. They've done some jobs in recent weeks, so Regal & Taylor won't look too bad. They basically ooze credibility, as well.

Worst case scenario is that Regal & Taylor win, and we still get a damn fine match. They should let these two teams go 15-20 minutes, just like The Hardys and MNM at December to Dismember. That will make this PPV memorable.

Chris Benoit vs. Chavo Guerrero for the WWE United States Championship

Their match on SmackDown! was better than their match at Survivor Series. They need more time to really instill the right amount of drama to their wrestling. Two of the SmackDown! Six, they can both go, and have chemistry. This could be a MOTYC if given time.

Once again, there is a preferred outcome, in Chavo winning the belt, but even if that doesn't happen, you'll still get a nifty match. That's three great Championship matches. Who cares if the storyline is shit? They are having great fucking matches.

The Boogeyman vs. Mike Mizanin

You know what? I'm actually glad this match is happening. You need some crap to divide the main event matches from the great wrestling matches, or else you are going to get tired crowds, and matches that lack the right amount of crowd energy. This should not go too long, and The Miz should win, as he actually has a future (no matter what anyone else says). The Boogeyman will probably win, and the world will appreciate the finese of Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Chris Benoit, William Regal, Finlay, Dave Taylor, Gregory Helms and Jimmy Wang Yang, just a little bit more.

Mr. Kennedy vs. The Undertaker in a Last Ride Match

Ew. Just ew. Mr. Kennedy should win, but my gut tells me The Undertaker goes over. I was hoping Ken Doane would join up with Mr. Kennedy here, and set up a feud with The Undertaker for WrestleMania, but I guess that won't happen. Kennedy could really use the win, but Taker will probably get it to keep him strong for the Rumble.

Montel Vontavious Porter vs. Kane in an Inferno Match

I'm glad this match is happening, because Kane winning seems likely. Good for him. Kane winning on PPV is a good thing, and with this and Survivor Series under his belt, part of me believes he may actually have somewhere to go in the WWE.

Batista & John Cena vs. King Booker & Finlay

It'll be fun just to hear the crowd reactions.

So yeah, sue me, I'm going to order this just for the three Championship matches, and of course, JBL's commentary. I'm still hoping they add another MNM vs. The Hardys match to the card. Why? Why not? They did one at December to Dismember, they can do one here.

The Inferno Match should be over quickly, as to allow more time to the matches that can deliver the goods, and aren't based on gimmicks. I want to say get Taker vs. Kennedy done quickly, but the longer that match goes, the better Kennedy is going to look. Hopefully. Plus, there is room for psychology in that match.

If given time, there is some greatness to happen here. Is anyone else pumped?

With the regal and taylor possibly becoming champions, and I have a feeling that people are going to hate me for saying this, but the Bros. of Destruction, once their singles feuds end, could go after the belts...

The main event sickens me. The inferno matches and the title matches make me want to give Smackdown a hug. And goddamn it if I can't stop being an Undertaker mark. If the Miz died today I couldn't be happier so I'm hoping for Boogeyman to squash.

I like it, not ASHITLOAD but it's a Smackdown ppv which I always enjoy.

I will say that Armageddon is the best bult up PPV One can remember in a long time. The fact that I don't give a flying fuck about MVP, Kennedy, Booker, Cena, Batista, Kendrick, London, Miz, Boogeyman, or Helms aside, they have done a fine job working a program for everyone.

I think that's Smackdown's problem. They have a bunch of WCW guys, the Brothers of Destruction that are both not at all in the title picture, alot of not-over guys, and Batista.

Smackdown pay per views are usually pretty good. They always seem to be a pleasant surprise, and I think this one has some good potential. I just hope they don't split up London/Kendrik.

This should be a good PPV. The Smackdown PPV's this year have been excellent with No Way Out being my PPV of the year. Anyway, this is a solic card which should have great wrestling. Hope the Tag Title match gets 20 mins or more as it could be as good as the Hardy's vs MNM match last week.

It is weird to have the main event a tag match but it could be good. Mostly cause FINLAY is in the match. If this guy can get good matches out of Batista then he could make this match worth watching.

I don't watch SD, but when Alienoid lays out this PPV, it does sound pretty good. But how much time do you honestly think the tag title match, Benoit/Chavo and Yang/Helms will really get? I wouldn't say more than 10minutes, and that's being nice for the Cruiser match. Hardyz/MNM got a lot of time at D2D because of the lack of matches. Never the less, those should all be great matches no matter how long they go.

Kane has never won an Inferno match so I am curious to see if he'll pick up the win here.

I see your point, the WWE has been fucking things up recently. But when the Championship matches make up almost half of the current card, they really should get time. Here's how I'd time the matches:

The main event will probably get 20 minutes, or so. They'll probably be an extensive beat-down period on John Cena after a strong start by the World Champions.

The Undertaker vs. Mr. Kennedy is another match which could go 20 minutes. They'll use some psychology, etc. I'm not too into this program, as it could have ended at No Mercy with correct booking.

Kane vs. MVP will be short, in my opinion. I'm not sure how long Inferno Matches usually go for, but I can't imagine this would go longer than 10 minutes, including entrances. This is probably for the best. I like MVP and all, but this gives him the chance to go down to OVW and work on his ring skills some more, find a finisher that fits him, and maybe make the jump to either RAW or ECW. SmackDown! is only a two-hour show, and there isn't room for everyone on there at all times. It's quite the shame that MVP's only real feud was with Kane, but I expect to see him back soon. Give this one about 5 minutes, max.

The Boogeyman vs. Mike Mizanin would really be a non-match, if I was in control. The Boogeyman makes his crawling entrance, and The Miz comes in from behind, and beats him down with a steel chair, and chokes him out with some wire. He rolls The Boogeyman into the ring, and hits The Mizard of Oz for the pin. He does some obnoxious taunting around the ring, and points out he is STILL undefeated. Maybe have Vito come out and chase him off, to set up for a feud. Hey, if you're not a fan of these men, at least you have JBL's commentary during this segment. This segment would go for no longer than 5 minutes.

The matches to this point run to about 50 minutes. That leaves more than enough time for the Championship matches to get about 20 minutes each. Helms vs. Yang is probably better off with 15 minutes at the most, but 20 minutes could be interesting to see.

They should still throw in an MNM vs. Hardys match, in my opinion. If the PPV keeps the same ratio of wrestling:shenanigans, this match could go about 20 minutes as well. And if they use the full duration of their PPV, they could have more than enough time for promos hyping the matches, even from some of the undercard guys.

I'm tempted to suggest that they just forget about the normal way of doing things, and pull a TNA: have the Championship matches take priority over the non-title matches. It would make being a Champion mean something, and Helms' long reign would become important.

Have the United States Championship Match close the show. Chris Benoit has headlined a WrestleMania, and Chavo Guerrero is a well-noted wrestler in his own right. It could work. Have the WWE Tag Team Championship Match semi, and the Cruiserweight Championship follow some of the likely crap. MNM vs. The Hardys if it is on the card, which would then border onto the crap.

The Inferno match probably going on last. If not, semi-main event.

Also, I see Kane going over. Why? MVP has a full-body suite. That's all the proof you need that he's being set on fire.

It's supposed to be one of the most brutal, personal matches between two competitors that can be imagined.

This makes it into some kind of a clusterfuck of a comedy match which might pop the crowd once or twice but completely undermines how dangerous the Hell in a Cell structure should be put over as.
