Seriously

Him even being mentioned as possibly the best in the world is fucking ridiculous, I'm sorry. He's not even the best in TNA.

Look, he's good. Above average. A nice little all-rounder. But you have to be fucking deluded to think he is anything near as good as best in the world. The man wrestles like he has been pre-programmed, for fuck's sake.

Meh, saying he isn't the best thing in the world and has a mechanical style isn't really saying something bad, just a constructive criticism. If he doesn't grow out of it in a bit of time, then yeah. Mostly I meant you can't point to a specific area where he just stinks on ice, his mic skills aren't garbage and he hasn't garnered a reputation for being an ass. It's ground-floor business, really; a lot of people think he'll be something big someday and they want everyone to know that THEY were fans of him from the get-go.

I love watching Chris Daniels. He is quite simply the single smoothest mover inside the ring that I've ever seen. I don't think he's going to be Main Eventer any time because his size and look, and he doesn't have enough mic skills to over come those two problems. HOWEVER, he is incredibly talented, and IMO one of the top 5 best in ring performers alive today.

...And this is coming from someone who hates "Spot Monkey Faggot" Styles, enjoys but has never gushed over Punk, and thinks "Fat Ass" Joe is quite possibly the most overhyped wrestler since Bret Hart.

He's 35, and has been pro for 14 years. I'd say if he hasn't 'grown out' of it by now then he's not going to.

I'm not shitting on the man by any means, I've seen him put some decent matches together live myself. Note 'decent', not 'great'. Most Daniels matches tend to consist of one guy hitting his stuff, then the other guy hits his stuff, finish. But this is way too much. Best in the world? Get the fuck out of here, seriously. If he was that good WCW would have signed him a long, long time ago.

I'm no stranger to overhyping indy guys myself - personally I think Alex Shelley is the absolute bee's knees, and Matt Sydal with a little more work could legitimately become something very special. But compared to some of the other guys mentioned in this thread it's even more startling. Punk and Joe basically single-handedly saved ROH from dieing, which they basically receive eternal smark credit for, and Meltzer (whether you like his opinion or not it holds tremendous weight in the industry) rated these guys in a 5 * match together which hadn't happened in the US since like 1995, at least IIRC.

On top of that Joe had a match that basically far exceeded expectations against Kobashi, who is arguably the best wrestler of all time. If you can hang with Kobashi, you are the real deal, and he did. AJ I've never been particularly sold on, but he has shown he has the quality and most importantly the intangibles to be able to carry a company as champion. I don't believe Daniels measures up to any of them.

Meltzer is only credible because he says he is. I'm sorry, but I don't give a flying fuck how he rates any match, or what he has to say. Only dumbasses who don't know what they like but want to appear smart and cool listen to Meltzer cause he's so insider that anything he liked must be good. Joe is a fat peice of shit who's over hyped, I don't care if it is impressive or not for a man his size to move the way he does, his matches suck. Styles is a spot monkey plain and simple. And INCREDIBLY gifted athlet, but a spot monkey. Punk is damn fine, but has shwon he can't quite hang on the national level.

Based on how much people gush over Joe, I might be able to see a mark of his put him over Daniels...as for Punk, that's a judgement call. But Styles??? STYLES??? Come on now Triple M. That's just way too far.

The WCW signed him at the end of WCW's run, however Daniels slipped on the ring ropes doing a spring board moonsault and landed on his head. This was sometime around 2000 when he was in his last 20's.

People gush over Daniels because Daniels is a great in ring performer, and quite good on the mic as well. Personally Daniels is one of my 3 favorite wrestlers I have ever seen, but that is my opinion. Don't just throw Daniels in with Punk, Styles, and Joe because people gush over him like that. Daniels is better then all three of those guys. And for the record I like Punk, Styles, and Joe. But it's really a matter of opinion. If you don't think he's worthy of some of the hype, I can't see where you're comming from but you're certianly entitled to that.

Styles gets an unfair amount of shit, though he's not exactly brilliant, either.

Punk, I won't defend. For the hype he gets, you should get a turn with his girlfriend every time he steps into the ring.

Samoa Joe is talented, but nobody who didn't watch him in the indies would see anything good. Even them still overrated.

Daniels? Yeah, he's a touch bland, which is especially funny when he was one of the only TNA wrestlers with a gimmick.

Bestin styles, though, is like saying you're a better sprinter than Zack Gowen.

Yeah, I don't think Daniels is ever going to be big, he simply isn't relatable to most fans, but in between the ropes, he moves as smoothly as water runs. I won't shed a tear if he never gets over or wins the big belt, he is simply very fun to watch.

AJ is not supreme or anything but he can work if he's in there with the right opponents. And he could carry that company, on a national level. Chris Daniels could not.

I managed to get a ticket for Joe's last ROH appearance on the ROH tour recently. I've never seen him in live action and I've got to say that I was disappointed.

The show in general was the best I've ever seen, live or not. It'd be difficult following up a Briscoe vs Briscoe match or McGuiness vs Rave in a no-holds barred but Joe didn't deliver. If it wasn't for the gimmick that it was his 'last in ROH' ever the match would have stunk out the building.

The comment that 'for his size he is an awesome athelete' isn't justified. He shouldn't be given a handicap because he's overweight. And without the hype that surrounds him he would struggle to keep his head above water in TNA's midcard.

Yeah I pretty much agree with MMM on all points. I like Christopher Daniels. Even have his Best of DVD. But by no means is he even close to best in the world.



Now Curry Man is a different story. Someone give that hot spicy man a wrestler of the year award right now.

I think he could. He has 'the look'. He has a greater prescence about him. People rally behind him a great deal when he is a face, and he is a surprisingly good heel. And when it comes down to it he has, for lack of a better term, fire - which Daniels has virtually nothing of.

Seriously, going in I was dreading the Homicide match cause I knew it would be something vaguely like an exhibition, they've fought so many times, are good friends, blah blah. It was better than I expected but yeah, nothing great. He has had a tendancy to get lazy in the last year or so but when he's on (say for example, the 6 man vs CZW at the 100th show) he's awesome.

I think I gotta express my opinion on this... I have seen Daniels matches on TNA PPV's, TV shows, ROH Videos, maybe some other stuff, and I think he is a really good wrestler but he has not hit his full potential yet. I mean as a wrestler, I think he will still become better. He is consistently solid, when you watch him in the ring he is a star, but something is missing.

Perhaps what is missing is good booking, maybe he is at a place where he can be the best in the world, but he is not getting the chance to prove that because of his booking. He excels in tag team programs, but those programs are far better booked than his singles turns. I can't recall like any singles feuds off the top of my head from Chris Daniels. Tag Team wise however he has the best record of anyone since the turn of the century. His Tag Team opponents are of much higher skill than his singles opponents like Chris Sabin who hasn't a great deal of ring psychology or drama. I think his best opponents are in the WWE. Rob Van Dam, Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio, Shawn Michaels, Kendrick and London, William Regal, CM Punk, Edge, Randy Orton, Chavo Guerrero, Gregory Helms, Booker T, maybe even The Undertaker, and probably more would all have excellent feuds with Christopher Daniels. So my conclusion is that if this ever gets to happen, if he is in the WWE and booked properly then yes he could be the greatest in the world.

I like Samoa Joe, he makes a match like a real fight and I like that. His PPV matches in TNA are great, always, he is truly dedicated to kicking ass. I don't see why people dislike him now, but its probably just because he is more mainstream, those people are tools so fuck'em.

AJ Styles was the reason to watch TNA when it first opened up, he still goes at the same pace to this day, but the act is a little old witout a real personality and a horribly hillybilly accent.

I think the best moment of the match was Joe going to get a beer from the bar. I'm glad I choose the Sunday over the Saturday as, like I've said, it was the best show I've seen.

Joe did look a little off the pace in the match. Like he was winding down from a tough week. I think he knew that the hype around the match being his last would carry him through it, and leave him in a position without him having to put in much effort. Thats the difference, at least for me, between some of the top stars in the business and a young pretender like Joe.

Even though Daniels isnt known very well, I think he's awesome and one of the first wrestlers to get me into TNA. I like his new gimmick a lot and can't wait for his program with Sting.
