Making a DVD-R/RX Bootable

I can burn DVDR's/RW's that work on my computer but not on any DVD players. I was reading about how I needed to make it "bootable" and something about adding an .img file to the .ISO file or something along those lines. Anyway, I can't find any clear instructions as to what exactly I need to be doing and hopefully I can get some help. Any ideas?

I meant to say R/RW in the title, I know its not called a DVD-RX, typo.

Anyway, I just need help getting a DVD-R/RW to work on a DVD player. And yes, my DVD player is capable of playing R/RW discs.

I've tried Roxio, some other candy-ass program I got for free that didnt work, and just dragging and dropping the files with windows.

Are you trying to burn movies? Because dragging and dropping files is not going to work.

I would suggest using ImgBurn for burning software. DVD Shrink for burning movies and RipIt4Me for movies that DVD Shrink has a hard time with.

If your DVD player can play DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW and you are sure (there is a difference between DVD-R and DVD+R), then chances are you are just not burning the files properly. No need to make the DVD bootable.

Also for reference, IMG files and ISO files are merely different formats that people use to store things such as DVDs and CDs. If you are actually just dragging and dropping an IMG/ISO file and burning it then your DVD player isn't going to know what to do.
