Or does the NFL rarely have trades? I was thinking about it and I can't think of a real trade in the longest time (by real I mean signifigant) It seems like everyone moves around through free agency.

Yeah I noticed that too. Kinda weird.
I guess the same is true in the NHL too. I mean, like 96% of every trade these days (barring the small crappy ones that mean nothing) are just cost-cutting moves to help teams out. |

It's due to the salary cap and power the league has over the players. In the MLB for example most of the power belongs to the players association, where as in NFL and to a lesser extent the NHL, the power belongs to the owners.

Because of the contracts..they arent guarenteed so its easier to just release a guy and hes off the books

Ya but at the same time you see more important guys getting waived than you do in other sports.

plus, it also has to do with the fact that there are so many different positions in the NFL. Also, like it was said before, it's alot easier just waiting for free agents. that was you don't have to give anything up.
