So yeah. I'm just curiousas to whether or not people like it, given the Xero/Noid discourse going on.

Vote goes to cool. I mean yes you have the people who always throw the argument out there that it makes wrestling look even more fake because why would the opponent do a back flip to accomplish the move. Regardless the move kicks ass IMO.

I think given the fact that the entire X Division is based on ridiculous bumps and flips and dives, it's pretty much the perfect move for him and the division as a whole. So much of what those guys do obviously requires help from the opponent, so what's the big deal with a flip piledriver?

This move reminds me more of the stratusfaction, mainly because its obvious its the opponent actually doing most of the move.

Is it cool-looking? Sure, I won't deny that.
But it's so unrealistic that I can't call it a "good" move. I rate it right up there with moves like The People's Elbow for stupid shit. I was never a big fan of the "do high spots for the sake of high spots" style, either. |

I think it's a great finisher and fits him well. The fans get into it, its replay-worthy, its exciting.
I think if a wrestler like Petey Williams is going to be known by one thing (the Canadian Destroyer), as many on this forum are arguing, then it's a hell of a thing by which to be known. There's nothing wrong with getting recognition for having an awesome finisher. |

It's totally unrealistic, but this is wrestling so it's awesome. It's more realistic looking than the C4 (or whatever Burchil's finisher was before he was fucking his sister).

I'm in the middle. I hate it because it's blatantly obvious the other person is flipping for the most part. I do like the concept though... Sometimes it's better than others. The Canadian Destroyer in the Shuji Kondo Vs Kaz Kayashi match was great, because it wasn't a straight move, but more of a top rope reversal. I don't know, the mark in m loves to see one pulled off well, but then when it looks like shit... Meh.

I like it. This is professional wrestling. Half the shit wrestlers do makes no sense. You can drive a truck through a lot of stuff in wrestling.
And, at the risk of sounding like I'm defending the move for the hell of it, is it really that unrealistic? I mean, let's analyse the stages of the move. Petey starts with the opponent in a standing headscissors position for say a piledriver or a powerbomb. Perfectly logical. He then jumps, while keeping the opponent's head locked in the headscissors. So far, it makes sense. I guess the flipping is where people begin to question the move. The body generally goes where the head goes. When Petey jumps and flips forward, it is not completely unrealistic to expect an exhausted opponent to be taken over with the move, as well. The move looks way prettier than it has any right to, but think of the move as an inverted hurricanrana. Petey just holds onto the headscissors and drives the opponent down into a piledriver. Trevor Murdoch's finishing move is probably a slightly more "realistic" version of the move, but I don't think the move is as ridiculous as some make out. It is similar to The C4. The move could be made to look a little more realistic (for example, Burchill could get them up for a vertical suplex, then backflip with the opponent, so it looks less like they are flipping forward, but the moves can be traced to some realistic truths. I don't see a problem with the Stratusfaction at all. Trish would kick off the ropes and then hit a bulldog. Sometimes she'd be supported (OK, most times), but pretty much every move is a co-operative effort. I think all these moves make sense within the wrestling realm. My biggest problem with the Canadian Destroyer would be "Why not just piledrive them?" |

As unsafe as this is, I think it could look more realistic if was performed off the top turnbuckle. Petey's opponent would have to stand on the second turnbuckle.

Seriously, it's amazing the first 2 or 3 times you see it, but then it's like "oh he's still doing that flipping bullshit?"
It would be better if it were saved for special occasions and only used in big finishes/reversal situations. Busted out like 2 times a year, tops. |

Not a fan. I liked it when I first saw it a few years back but the novelty wore off and it's one of those obviously fake looking moves.

It's still pretty cool, it doesn't always look really unrealistic either, like the one against AJ Styles that someone posted in a Petey Williams thread, where he jumps off the second rope and goes straight into it.
Saying that though, what Funky says would be a very good idea, saving it for 'special occasions' ensures the novelty doesn't wear off, and it's a lot better that wrestlers don't have to take a Canadian Destroyer week in week out as it is a pretty dangerous move. |

2) Don't you usually call bullshit on Samoa Joe being a fatty and doing cruiserweight shit. 3) Trevor's version is more like the "stiff" version of the move, and a little more realistic, but looks nowhere near as pretty. Also, the Canadian Destroyer and Ace of Spades are two entirely different moves. One is a flipping piledriver, and the other is a flipping sit-down powerbomb. My original thought was that Murdoch called it the Ace of Spaces, which was hilarious in a *what the fuck, Ace of Spaces* sort of way. Mispellings are funny unless your Santino Marella. Texas Destroyer is a much cooler name than Ace of Spades, even if it is a reference to a different company.
