Let's talk Ring of Honor *Taping spoilers*

I've been watching what I can of Ring of Honor on HDNet, and have been very impressed, but it's left me wanting to talk about ROH as a company. Are they doing the right things? Will they go places? More specifically, what should they do, and how can they go places?

Who would you like to see the company bring in? Who should be the stars of the promotion? What philosophy should the company take with their championships? Here are the current champions associated with the product, as they move forward into their third set of tapings:

ROH World Champion: Jerry Lynn
ROH World Tag Team Champions: The American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards)
FIP World Heavyweight Champion: Tyler Black
SHIMMER Champion: MsChif

Personally, as much a cliche and pipe-dream as this is, I think ROH could benefit so much by getting Rob Van Dam to work a series of tapings, a PPV and a DVD. That would be a five-match deal. HDNet might even be willing to cover the expenses of getting a guy like RVD in for that time. He's arguably the hottest casual free agent out there, and it wouldn't really damage his working relationship with the WWE. I mean, Ric Flair is currently their "Ambassador."

If RVD put over Jerry Lynn in the Hammerstein Ballroom, or something, it'd be a real way to solidify Jerry Lynn as a guy that only still has it, but always did have it. He wouldn't just be a small veteran with the belt, but a big time small veteran with the belt. The match would pretty much get anyone from the old ECW days interested.

For the other stuff he can do: A match with Paul London would be a lot of fun (that's another guy I think they should bring in). Let them use a ladder. RVD and Austin Aries seem like they could have really good chemistry. You can't have RVD do a small tour of ROH without working against The Best in the World, Bryan Danielson. For the fifth and final match, they could do something with Jimmy Jacobs or Tyler Black, which would be a lot of fun. RVD & Tyler Black versus Jimmy Jacobs & Jerry Lynn, as a bizarro tag team contest?

Right now, I'm hoping that Jerry Lynn drops the ROH World Title to Austin Aries, who has a nice little union going with Kenny King & Rhett Titus, who will one day make fine ROH World Tag Team Champions. The American Wolves haven't been champions for long, but they have a defense coming up against Bryan Danielson & Tyler Black. While my head is saying that ROH should separate tag team wrestling and singles wrestling a bit, and that Richards & Edwards could get a major rub by going over those gems of the singles division -- I would mark out if Bryan Danielson & Tyler Black won the ROH World Tag Team Championship together.

With Jerry Lynn as a face champion, the heels like Austin Aries and Jimmy Jacobs should be going for the title shots. Danielson has already been pinned by Lynn, and Tyler Black is out of the picture for a bit. Giving them a run with the Tag Team Titles can get them to do something while they are waiting in line. Also, with Danielson's contract coming up, putting over guys left and right might eventually wear on The American Dragon.
