You got to love William Regal just for being such a great sport over the years. After watching him being slopped on Monday, I had to look back over the years at some of the fun that the WWE has had at his expense (feel free to add)

William Regal is one of my favourites. The man can wrestle, he can talk, and he's got some of the best hair I have ever seen. It's a shame he fucked up last year, because I was fairly sure he was going to win the WWE Title from Triple H.

I hope that Regal one day gets the chance to carry the big belt. At least for a little while.

I'm not sure if it has been posted yet, but I'd like to remind everyone of a promo Regal once cut on Chris Jericho, I believe. Jericho used to mock Regal's British persona, and Regal once cut loose and said something like "You're obviously not very bright, or else you'd know the English are the most barbaric race in history."

I wasn't even a Regal mark back then, but it sent chills up my spine.

This will sound random, but my first memory of Regal goes all the way back to 1997. He was wrestling some singles match on an episode of WCW Worldwide (they had him tagging with another guy at the time), and at one point he rolled out of the ring and yelled 'I'm molested!'. At the time I thought it was hilarious.

i love regal, he has a great wrestling style and his spots on the mic are absolutely fantastic , i dont understand why the wwe dont give him a real push

Regal's working is pure greatness. Who else can say more just fighting his hands closed for a Butterfly suplex than most can doing 500 flips in one match?

The WWE were giving him a real push last year. He became the General Manager of RAW, and Triple H put in a good word for him and he took the King of the Ring. Given that Triple H was the WWE Champion, and Regal was a mega-heel at the time, abusing his power as both GM and King of the Ring, it would not have surprised me at all to see Triple H drop the WWE Title off to Regal, which would have made a glorious moment indeed.

However, Regal got suspended. He now has one strike left before the WWE has to terminate his WWE contract. It's understandable why the WWE might not want to insert him into any major storylines. I think it's pretty remarkable that the man got a run with the Intercontinental Title last year.

Unlike Jeff Hardy, there is no real need or desire from a marketing standpoint to push Regal to the moon. Yes, he is incredibly awesome, but he is an acquired taste. He's not exactly moving merchandise like a Hardy, so on one hand, it's perfectly reasonable that the guy finds himself in a mid-card for the rest of his WWE life role. On the other hand, WWE Champion or not, it's not like Regal is going to be the guy carrying the company. If Regal is released, even if he is a former World Champion, I can't see him doing much damage to the WWE by signing with TNA or ROH.

Hopefully it is just a matter of time with Regal. I see him feuding with Kofi Kingston over the US Title for a bit, putting him over. Then it's King of the Ring time, and a logical storyline there is Regal trying to repeat as King of the Ring. I see him winning in the first round, but then getting knocked out of the second by a face like MVP. Regal then costs MVP the final against someone like Ted DiBiase (who I think will win this year). Regal and MVP then have an upper mid-card feud, which raises up Regal a bit.

I've been planning on reading Regal's book for a while now. I bet he's had an interesting life. I also loved his match in WCW with Goldberg years ago. That was a great match! I wish more wrestlers wrestled that mat style of wrestling because it makes wrestling look more real, and Regal actually made Goldberg look good that night, which is no easy task! WCW were such Goldberg marks that they just had to fire Regal all for not overselling to him.

I'd post the match to add to the awesomeness of Regal, and that match was on you tube, but the guy who put it there changed it to private. I'll look around the web at some point to see if another site has it.
