Some UFC 105 news

Quote:
A lightweight championship bout between 155-pound title-holder BJ Penn and challenger Diego Sanchez is set to headline UFC 105 on November 14 in Manchester, England, according to Inside Fights, citing a source within the UFC.

Penn (14-5-1) successfully defended the lightweight belt earlier this month at UFC 101, defeating Kenny Florian by fourth-round submission for his fourth win in last five fights. Prior to a January loss to Georges St-Pierre at welterweight, “The Prodigy” won consecutive lightweight bouts over Jens Pulver, Joe Stevenson, and Sean Sherk.

Following his win over Florian, Penn announced that he’d like to return to the Octagon quickly to take on Sanchez and it appears he’ll get his wish by headlining UFC 105, which is expected to air for free on tape-delay on Spike TV.

Sanchez (23-2), a former welterweight contender with wins over the likes of Nick Diaz, Joe Riggs, and Karo Parisyan, made his anticipated lightweight debut in February with a unanimous decision over Joe Stevenson. In his most-recent fight, “Nightmare” topped Clay Guida by split decision in June in a victory that has apparently earned him a shot at the 155-pound belt.
Quote:
Rumors are making the rounds today that a middleweight bout between Michael Bisping and Denis Kang is in the works to co-headline UFC 105 on November 14 in Manchester, England.

Bisping (17-2), who had been approached about fighting Wanderlei Silva in the UFC 105 main event before Silva recently underwent surgery to repair a deviated septum, is coming off a devastating knockout loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 100 last month, his first loss since moving down to middleweight in 2008. The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner is 7-2 in the UFC, including recent wins at 185-pounds over Charles McCarthy, Jason Day, and Chris Leben prior to the loss to Henderson.

The former PRIDE and one-time DREAM fight Kang (32-11-1) was upset by Alan Belcher in his UFC debut in January, but bounced back with a unanimous decision victory over Xavier Foupa-Pokam in April in his most-recent fight.
Quote:
Welterweights Dan Hardy and Dong Hyun Kim are in talks to fight at UFC 105 on November 14 in Manchester, England, Fighters Only reports, with Kim having verbally accepted the matchup.

Henderson: I have more dimensions as an mma fighter
Franklin: How many more dimensions did he say? Was it like 3 more dimensions? Cause thats ALOT of dimensions

When I see my opponent, I begin shaking uncontrollably, and once he hits me, I think to myself, You just hit Wanderlei Silva, how dare you hit Wanderlei Silva, and then I try to kill him. Wanderlei

That's a pretty sick line up already imo...though I don't really like the Hardy V Kim fight. Not that I don't think it will be a great fight, more that I think they should try and build them both up abit more first...

Penn V Sanchez should be pretty sweet as well...While Bisping V Kang is cool, just a shame that it won't be Wanderlei that's KOing him

Yeah that should be the line up. I've heard rumours that they want to put Marcus Davis on the card, but I doubt it'll happen.

Paul Kelly V Dennis Siver should be a pretty cool fight...

It would appear that the lightweight title fight between B.J. Penn and Diego Sanchez has been scrapped from the UFC’s next visit to the UK in November, although hopes of seeing a title fight feature on the card may not be lost for the fans planning to attend.

UFC President, Dana White announced yesterday plans to hold a third event, rumoured to be network TV bound, which will feature the Penn/Sanchez fight, but denied claims the fight had been moved because of the Hawaiian’s dislike of fighting in the UK.

“B.J. doesn’t want to fight anywhere. B.J. doesn’t want to fight in Las Vegas because he didn’t like the decision, and then when they called ‘The BJ Penn rule,’ now he likes Las Vegas and wants to fight. Dude, please, don’t even get me started.”

The UFC President also revealed that Dan Henderson had contacted him and is pushing hard for a rematch with UFC middleweight champion, Anderson “The Spider” Silva to take place at UFC 105 in Manchester, England but he would wait until after the Marquardt/Maia fight to make his decision.

He did however confirm that Michael Bisping’s fight with Denis Kang would serve as the co-main event so there is still hope of another big fight being added one way or the other.

watching anderson live would make me wee a bit i think

Anderson currently wants time off I believe (not trying to "burst your bubble")

My best guess as to who will main event it would be Matt Hughes...
