Heatwave 99: Taz VS. Tajiri
# Taz defeated Yoshihiro Tajiri to retain the ECW World Heavyweight Championship (10:06)
* Taz choked Tajiri out with the Tazmision using barbed wire http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECW_Heat_Wave#1999 I remember the camera panning out so as not to show this, I also remember the major backlash it caused on the internet and allegedly with the TNN Executives. This moment was blamed for the falling out with TNN by more than a few people. At the time, on Taz's website, he said something along the lines of, "Yes it was real, Tajiri knows what he did to deserve it." I'm of course paraphrasing but, I can't find the original website. So, I'm asking you guys, what the fuck happened? Why did Taz shove barbwire in Tajiri's mouth and choke him out??? What could he have possibly done to deserve something like that? I watched the match several times and still can't come up with an answer. edit: as thecc points out, I was "worked". Maybe I should be a little more clear with my question. Taz has since come out saying it was Heyman's idea to use barbwire on Tajiri anyways and aside from the fact that it pissed off the TNN Executives in a bad way making it dumb, I don't see any motivation for the assault. It was a step beyond normal angry Taz and was pushed as retribution for something in the match. Was there ever an explanation? It's time to make TPWW MEAT again! Quote:
