Pitch me a sequel to Cloverfield
if you liked it.

Actually, fuck it, if you hated it and its nausea-inducing shaky camera, pitch me an idea that would make the sequel cool for you.

My pitch: 20 years after the Cloverfield monster has been killed (after several Operation Hammer-Down attempts). Several of the creatures that inhabited the body of the monster managed to escape and become part of the ecosystem ranging from Northern Canada to South America. Attacks from the creatures are quite common and authorities are unable to wipe out the alien population.

Open: In an underground government facility, hundreds of scientists attend a speech by the Earth's foremost expert on the giant creature as well as the smaller creatures now terrorizing the country-sides of North and South America.

Cue shaky-video footage clips, zooming in on the "meteor" found at the end of Cloverfield, followed by an Al Goresque slide-show about the possibility of another alien meteorite in an extended orbit around the planet.

Enter Slusho scientists...

That is all.

It's time to make TPWW MEAT again!

I didn't really like the film that much to be honest. Nothing to do with the camera angle etc, just thought it was generally boring.

The monster has some potential though. I'd probably just do a typical monster film with this huge monster destroying cities and eating people. And those little creatures that make people's heads explode.

It'd be like 1998 Godzilla with an 18/R rating.

And for the record, that doesn't mean it'd be an amazing film... just saying if you want a sequel, that would be my pitch.

I actually heard they were making the sequel from the perspective of another group/person during the initial attack. I know that kinda sounds lame, but there must be a genre/film/director/writer who could make a trilogy about the same event from different perspectives, with a good degree of originality in it...

But if it were me, I would say that the monster was put there to 'pave the way' for an invasion, while at the same time, the smaller creatures that fell off the mother, were put there to inhabit as many humans as possible. Cue an invasion with them all actually already part of the populous, enter someone who found the videotape and had or has a pivotal role in carrying the story.

Its already making myself bored, so I guess the moral of the story is to leave Cloverfield alone.

I actually enjoyed cloverfield so I would settle with one of two scenarios....

#1...the Rumoured sequel which takes place during the same event but with a different group of people.

#2....Take the first movie...and do it with no shaky cam. Instead have a focus on the military and how they are trying to take it down and sending in forces. Have the main characters from the first filom pop up in different moments off the side. Like soldiers running on the ground and they come across them running or mention seeing them off to the side...or just take place where the first film ended. (considering I think that final line in the film I believe played backwards is freaky as hell to me)
