Young doesn't have a "terrible arm." QBs with a terrible arms do not get considered for the Heisman. You can't bring up Crouch either, because he was an more than a "running QB" (Which I would consider Young) he was a straight up Option QB. It's just debateable wether or not his arm is good enough for the NFL. I don't know if he can make all the throws that an NFL QB needs to make, I personally haven't seen it but then again you really can't know for sure until he plays in the Senior Bowl (assuming he stays for another year) or goes to a combine.
Also, Matt Jones was chosen as a wide reciever, he even played wide reciever in the Senior bowl (much like Antwan Randell-El did) Saying the Jags drafted him as a QB is totally false, there was never an intention for him to play QB. Also, why would they draft a QB in the 1st round when they had Leftwich? |

Yeah I got mixed up kid. He went through all the combines as a WR. I actually meant he was "listed" as a QB when they drafted him but everyone knew he was going to be playing WR. But then I remembered he just entered the combine and everything as a WR. I didn't watch the Senior Bowl so.

Of course Vince Young says he is coming back. If Texas loses in the Rose Bowl I can see him coming back and going for the Heisman (although it won't be any easier).
That being said, I did a little research last night about it. Quite frankly I was shocked to see multiple people assuming Young won't be drafted as a quarterback, I had never even heard the idea mentioned before. What I found though, Mel Kiper has him as the third best QB prospect behind Lienart and Quinn. Then in a mock draft on Insider, it basically lists the players in terms of overall ability, and Young was No. 7 I believe. Unfortunately, I think he holds just a little more credibility than The Miz. |

Not to be a D-Bag but I am pretty sure Matt Jones was selected as a WR out of Arkansas lol
He even played a little wideout while in college too, much like Marcus Robinson from Penn State. I am about 99% sure Robinson will be a wide out in the NFL. Maybe Young will play QB in the NFL, I personally don't see how, I've watched him play many times and I didn't really think he had a accurate enough arm for the NFL. Then again Vick plays in the pros and doesn't exactly throw the most accurate passes and he seems to be doing alright. |

Hey BCWWF, bookmark this thread, and bump it and laugh at me if Young starts in the NFL. I don't care what Kiper's big boasrd says, I've seen him play and I don't like his chances.

I find it hard to believe that Young is the 3rd rated NFL QB though. Watching a game right now with a QB that looks like he'll be a better QB in the NFL - Charlie Whiteherst from Clemson

No, I kind of agree with Stima. I think in time he could get receivers good enough to make up for his shortcomings in passing and eventually they might be able to find a way to capitolize on his rushing better. I mean if it works so well in college it seems like somebody will find a way to make it work in the pros.

From what I've seen, I just think Mike Vick has a better arm then Young. Doesn't mean Young can't make it in the NFL, but Vick is probably the least accurate passer in the NFL and just makes his money on being able to rush. Vick is also a much better rusher then Young, but again that's just my opinion. Young will also have time to grow in both areas, I just personally see him playing Wideout in the NFL.

I would go so far as to say Michael Vick will never play in a Superbowl, let alone win one. There is a reason running QB's don't make it in the NFL, it doesn't work. Defense are too fast and complex.
Now I know I won't be able to come back to any of you and restake my claim about Vick, but like I said, I believe he will be stuck in mediocrity hell. Michael Vick is an athlete and in my opinion, won't ever be in the upper echelon of NFL QB's. |

Carroll signed an extention, years and dollars not released... I'd assuming $$$ wise it's in the range or more then Wies deal.

Yeah I saw that. If I was in his position I wouldn't want to leave either.
Then again, on these college football boards I frequent, someone mentioned that the contract he signed could just be a recruiting tool. They went on to mention that even though he has a contract he could still possibly end up in the NFL, then used Nick Saban as the example for his theory. Anyone think Carroll ends up in the NFL this year, or possibly in the next few? I mean he had a crack with the Jets so maybe he might want to try to prove he can do it at the NFL level. |

To get back on College....LSU romped Miami tonight and then got into a fight after the game. I guess LSU players called a fake punt (after the coach's called a fake FG in the 3rd) on their own in the 4th quarter - pretty gangster if you ask me.

Brad Smith is so the fucking man it's unbelievable. Did anybody besides Outlaw watch the Independence Bowl? I was there, we came back from 21-0 deficit to win 38-31. Awesome.

I just find it kind of interesting when ESPN is doing these polls about USC vs. past champs etc. If you look at the polling results, the states who generally seem to harbor the best fans stick together.
Tonights poll is who is going to win, and it is overwhelmingly USC, but then in Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi all sway towards Texas. All I know is that I trust an SEC fan more than a Pac-10 fan, and a Big 12 fan more than a Big East fan, which are probably where most the votes are coming from. |

It wasn't a bad game, some piss poor defensive execution on the Irish side, those two consecutive third down conversions on tOSU's last TD drive should have been stopped. All in all, something to build on next year. |

I'm not saying their schedule wasn't lacking all around, but maybe I misunderstood your intial post. They did play a good team in USC, and another one in tOSU. They fought hard in both games and lost, which brings me to the conclusion that I think they'll be NC contenders within a couple years, hopefully.

Tough loss for the Irish tonight but they now have a HUGE base on which to build on now. Quinn for Heisman in 2006!
I tell ya though, that Ginn kid impressed the hell out of me. |

Yeah he is good. I think the race for Heisman next year is going to be between Vince Young, Brady Quinn and maybe even Troy Smith. If he plays like he did against the Irish next year, he is definitely a candidate.

Too bad that fumble return got called back, it would have made the game more interesting.
I'm real surprised by WVU right now, I really didn't see the Big East champ being able to run all over the SEC Champ - but I guess I was wrong. |
