I wonder how much the landscape of the team will change if Joe is gone. All of the players pretty much said they want to play for Joe. With so many question marks out there, who is going to be back? We could be looking at a very different Yankee team next year.

Yeah Torre doesn't deserve to go. He should finish his career there. Steinbrenner is totally senile.

Perhaps he's just bluffing to fire the team up. Who knows. Hopefully we'll win these next 3 games and not have to cross that bridge.

This is Torre's last year. If he comes back, he comes back. I want to know what Brian Cashman's future is going to be. He was on the chopping block first last I heard.
Besides, think of what the fans might do if Joe doesn't come back. On a side note. Yes. We must win tonight. |

Why would Cashman be on the chopping block? He's done a great job. I don't think there's any arguing that.

Well? That's what Steinbrenner said earlier in the year.
Shit. For all we know, George might be having a bad case of alzheimer's or something right now. |

Cashman should stay. Keeping Hughes, Kennedy, and Joba was the smartest thing he could have done rather than trade a nut for Gagne.
If Joe goes though, gonna be interesting to see if Posada or Rivera re-sign. One of my friends thinks if Joe goes, Jeter might want a trade. I doubt that, but you never know. |

And the Yankees are still alive.
Clemens was bad obviously. I've thought it before but I don't see any way he pitches next year. And if the Yankees make it to the next round I don't see him pitching ever again. Hughes did an incredible job picking up the slack from Clemens. Probably saved our season right there. Damon with the huge game as well. Also, how can you forget Trotman Nixon. He is my hero |

LOL this dumbass on a message board I visit thinks MLB should go the way of the NBA and NHL and have 16 teams in the playoffs
![]() He proposed that, in order to do that...you have to start the playoffs in September. The first round will be best of 3 and will start in late September (the season can start a week earlier). The 3 division winners get the top 3 seeds, the other 5 are based on records. Tie records are decided by head-to-head results. Then it gets even more clusterfucked because he said the whole "you can't play a team in the first round" rule would be in effect...so basically a team with say a #5 seed could wind up playing a #3 based solely on division. This would have been this year's first round games: AL Boston (1) vs. Minnesota (8) New York (4) vs. Seattle (5) Los Angeles (3) vs. Detroit (6) Cleveland (2) vs. Toronto (7) NL Arizona (1) vs. Atlanta (8) Colorado (4) vs. New York (5) Chicago (3) vs. San Diego (6) Philadelphia (2) vs. Milwaukee (7) ----- Worst idea ever? Quite possibly. |

Yeah, the guy said start the playoffs in early-to-mid September, causing the season to start in March.
But in March it might still be snowing in Boston and NY and other places. Plus you'd have spring training starting in January. The whole idea is fucked. Personally, I don't mind the playoffs as they are...but if they were to increase teams, I'd go NFL-style. 12 teams, top 2 in each league get a bye. But the first round would be 1-game only before going into the DS as usual. It'd be a huge advantage for the top 2 seeds cause not only do they get a break, but the other team would probably wind up using their ace pitcher in the 1 game. |

if The Yanks get to Byrd early, I think we may see Sabathia. If not, and the Yankees win, I could see Cleveland throwing Sabathia and Carmona tomorrow. That would scare me.
Moose should start, then go to Wang. Pettite tomorrow. |

Today its just Wang unless he gets into trouble. He needs to give us innings this game. If we get to game 5 it is worrisome though. I don't think Pettitte will throw as good as that game 2 and I don't think Sabathia pitches as bad as he did game 1. But hey, I'll take anything if we can get there. |

They shouldn't increase the teams at all. The last thing I wanna see is some 8th seed NL team below .500 in the World Series.

I think MLB has the best Playoffs right now. I hate how the NFL has bye teams,. They need only win 2 games, with homefield advantage to win the bowl. All teams should have to win the same amount of games. I dont like NBA and NHL, because too many teams make it. It should be onyl for the elite.

Yeah I do like the playoffs as is. Just saying if they ever did want to increase teams...I'd rather see them go the NFL route rather than 16 fucking teams. Over half the league

Ron Villone's been added to the roster in place of the injured Roger Clemens.
Odd, I always thought that your 25-man playoff roster for each round was set in stone, even if injuries happen. |

tonight will all depend on how well Wang controls his sinker. Last time out he hung too many pitches and the rest is history.
Hoping Byrd can do the business tonight. Or at the very least, keep CC fresh for Game 5. ps what day is the ALCS scheduled to start? ![]() |

This is gonna be REAL interesting if the Indians get these last 3 outs.
What will happen to the likes of Posada and Mo, and possibly even Jeter? Is their loyalty with the team or with Joe? |
