As long as it doesn't become a requirement or semi-forced to do all those side missions, it shouldn't be an issue.

Think Mass Effect 3 and Black Ops II somewhat forced having side missions and/or multiplayer done in order to do well near the end of the single player. Without it either the final mission(s) were a lot harder or the endings were completely tied into them being done.

Exactly. Same goes for non-side mission activities. They're just fun little diversions for people who might at some point might need to get away from the main quest.

They better not include a ton of compulsary-complete flying sequences. Those things are always a nightmare on PC.

PC version rumored to be included based on leaks from several retailers although at the moment no release dates were listed.

If GTA history is any indication, it would arrive around 6 months after the Xbox 360 and PS3 version.

Yeah, I hate water levels in games.

I can see why he would be excited by the diving gear, though. It's a whole new level of exploration for R*.

I'm just waiting for Loch Ness Monster rumours or something.

Michael, Franklin and Trevor have their own separate lives with their own sets of friends and acquaintances, and even their own preferred ways of spending their free time. In the open world, the characters are meant to be living their own ongoing and unpredictable personal lives, so understandably it’s not always easy to track one of them down in the vast city of Los Santos or the many towns spread about Blaine County at any given moment, but you will be able to find them. Having found them, (or simply after calling them up and arranging to meet them), you’ll certainly be able to hang out with them, annoy them should you choose, and maybe even assault them, but you won’t be able to kill them. They all have remarkable powers of recovery and good health insurance. The game is based on playing all sides of these three characters’ interwoven stories rather than having generic, interchangeable leads, so permanently killing a major character in that way wouldn’t make sense. If a player is determined enough though, they may well find a way to badly injure one of the characters and switching to that character would just put you in the hospital to continue where you left off.

As in all previous Grand Theft Auto games, we’ve made a point of including a map of the world to aid players in navigating the city. In all versions of GTAV, the game disc will accompany a map with all the details players will need to navigate the world. One big change though with this game is that with a world of this size, we created a double-sided map based poster to make sure players have all the information they might need to discover and explore the world. The blueprint map in the other editions does contain plenty of additional information and secrets on it.

Grand Theft Auto V is the largest and most ambitious game we have yet created, and takes full advantage of every ounce of processing power available in the current generation of consoles. In order to provide the best possible experience for such a massive and detailed world, the game will have installation requirements on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3 systems. For Xbox 360, Grand Theft Auto V will ship on two discs; Disc 1 will be used for a one-time mandatory install and Disc 2 will be used to play the game. After the install, players will be able to enjoy both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online without any need to switch discs.
This initial install will require an Xbox 360 Hard Drive or an external 16GB USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space. If using a USB flash drive it must be at least USB 2.0 with a minimum 15mb/s read speed and formatted for Xbox 360 use. A new USB flash drive is recommended to ensure optimum performance. For PlayStation®3, the game ships on one disc and will install content as soon as you insert the game. I never felt the controls were bad and I don't think I ever ran out of time on that stage. Even when I played it at a very young age.
The only issue might be that they had it too early in the game. Maybe it would have been better received if it were a later level.

Minor details, not edited by me. Quotes from the magazine and the brackets are by whoever typed it up.
  • "Time will sometimes pass when you switch, allowing Rockstar to subtly nudge the story forward"
  • The camera is "grainy" when pulling up into the Google Earth style view, during switches.
  • "They'll each stick, broadly speaking, to one area of the map". (When you're not controlling them.)
  • The descent when Franklin drops from the Helicopter, that opens the demo, took 3 minutes.
  • "We're in Red Dead country, then, with the soporific rhythm of hooves on dirt replaced by the whistle of wind through silk, and a new, dynamic score". (The hooves are probably referring to Red Dead, and not confirmation of horses.)
  • The hotel Michael is leaving during the demo is called Von Crastenburg (I couldn't remember if the name has been mentioned before, though the hotel part has, but I included it anyway).
  • The ambient score when Franklin descends has a soft-synth reminiscent of something out of the Drive OST.
  • The view of the land is flatter in the radar/mini-map, reminiscent of a GPS (whatever that means), and three colour meters for health, armour and Special are below it (mentioned before as green, blue and yellow respectively).
  • Michael looks like a tough guy, in his walk, but his sprint shows his age.
  • "80's Soul" heard from one car.
  • Handling is more forgiving, but not "dumbed down".
  • You'll only be able to switch characters, when a menu overlay appears in the bottom corner during missions. A lot of the switches in mission are made automatically. There are also text prompts suggesting character switches.
  • The characters' turning circle is more like Max Payne's, and less like Niko's (so smoother movement).

Like the news about cars. Liked that they had more "weight" to them than other sandbox games, but it was a little too hard to control. It's GTA not Gran Turismo after all.

Hopefully they found some middle ground between Saints Row and GTA IV.
