I've been playing online a little over an hour now. when I try to join my son's game, it keep saying "The session you are trying to join is not using the same content"

Yeah initially it is. Once you get through the tutorial, there are barber shops and such ti further customize your character.

Things just aren't working right yet. Might be a few days till they get their shit right.

Trying to land an apartment. Gonna take a lot of robberies and missions. It seems maintaining a car is about as expensive as real life. I wrecked about 4 so far or got them impounded on my dime. Gonna just steal cars for a bit until I have a place to park it. I saw some cheap apartments for 5 figures with 1/2 car garages, that's a start.

Starting jobs is a lot smoother now than launch. They don't pay out much more than simple robberies. When Heists get unlocked for everyone that's where the big money is. Until then I suggest you grind money with simple jobs. Deposit often and try not to die; it doesn't tell you but you still get charged for medical expenses. Much less than the main game much payouts are less too... it adds up pretty fast.

Gonna be back on later tonight. Anybody wanna meet up and do some jobs? Anybody still having trouble getting on?

Really annoyed that race is automatic, keeps getting stuck in the loading/looking for other part.

So I had a guy kill me, then go into whatever the pacifist mode is called, then shortly after kill someone else and do the same. He's possibly been doing that for quite some time as I just got out of a job and it kicked us all to random servers.

Seems like bullshit to me.

Looks like he got more than 100 bucks off me, can't speak for the other guy.

Keep in mind I'd just got out of a mission, so I hadn't had time to bank anything.

Anyway, I don't know if you've noticed, but being a dick seems to outweigh fiscal or stat losses in games.

6-7 minutes. BUT YOU CAN finish it as a solo player thing. It's the matchmaking that's really slowing things down.

From what I've heard it's just a matter of chance. I've tried doing solo but waited just as long with no results. Best method I've read is just dash boarding till it lets you in.

Once you're past the tutorial mission apparently there are no issues connecting. It's just that first part that's causing trouble.

Gonna try a few more times, but if it doesn't work I'm just gonna leave it alone for a few weeks. I've got quite the backlog of games to keep me occupied while they fix this.

So that might bypass the waiting part in the normal multiplayer mode?

My mistake was that I was actually able to finish the race, buy clothes and perform a hold-up as part of the Tutorial. I was then asked to meet somewhere to develop my shooting skills. I got there, it showed me how player matches work or something, I then was returned to the map and allegedly the tutorial was over maybe? I then deleted the character to try for a different look and haven't been able to reconnect at all.


I kept trying to join my sons game as he was able to get on without doing the race at all and was running around chatting with other players. He would send me an invite, but it said we were using different content (maybe glitched because he couldn't do the tutorial because the Race Trigger disappeared and he couldn't find it)...I dunno.

As soon as they get the bugs ironed out, this could be alot of fun.

It said on my screen that you left the game. Weird.

And yeah, I got in by loading the online waiting a few minutes, dashboarding, then trying again. Took about 5 tries, but I've heard it varying for everyone.

So worth it though. Already had some great moments.

First this dude kills me AND takes my personal vehicle while I was robbing a store. So I respawn and rob another one just to get some cash back. This gets me 3 stars with a helicopter, so I decide to bring this party to the guy who killed me. Only to find that he also has a copter shooting at him. So I join the chase and even get the last shot on the car, blowing it up and giving me the kill. Granted it was my car, but wtf its insured and you can't put a price on sweet vengeance.

Next I was just cruising along and came across a guy getting killed by cops at a store. Picked up his cash and high tailed it out of there. Surprised I didn't get hate mail for that one.

The little bit that I did get to play had me holding up a 24/7 store. Some guy that had already killed me twice, came after me again. Only this time I had a 2 star wanted level, so he got roped into a gunfight because the cops had me pinned down. I ran off a d left him stranded there so I could continue the tutorial.

Its a weird system at character creation, you must have gotten at least that far. Once your playing it builds kinda like it does in single player. You get bonuses for headshots and whatnot. Your XP builds as you do activities (I've only been able to hold up a store before it craps on me). You get pluses for killing other players as well, but I'm not sure how that works yet. It also seems lile there are more For Sale signs about than I recall seeing in Single Player.

I was also wondering if my brother could join the crew, he's worth it and I'll take punishment if he doesn't work out, he is a wrestling fan too if that is for some reason a pre-req and I'll beat him down in real life if that is needed as well.

Yeah, I got in the creation stuff, but a no-go at getting into the GTA Online world. I'm contempt though as they work out the kinks and fix everything. They told us in advance so that is good enough for me.
