yeah, Colvin was a beast when he was here (minus injuries) and AT has been good, I think a lot of what he does gets lost because of his speed he'll endup in coverage a lot more.

As for coaches, let's not forget it's not really the Belicheck tree of coaches, Belicheck is a branch from Parcells. Wies was under Parcells also and I think Romeo may have been also.

can't wait for the season to start... This offense is better then what they had in 07-08...

the DL will be one of the best in the league, I like what they've done with the LB core and just hope Mayo doesn't have a sophmore slump.

the DB still worry me a bit...

Yeah, Parcells' coaching staff on the Giants was ridiculous. Included Belicheck, Weis, Crennel, and even Tom Coughlin.

Anyway the Pats are gonna be really good this year. Not trying to disrespect the other teams in the AFC East but even with a backup QB replacing one of the top players in the league, the Pats barely missed the playoffs last year. If Brady stays healthy I don't really see any way they don't take the division.

If you call somone a beast and you're not going by stats, then what are you going by?

I love you VEL's defensive mode. The moment i question his comment he goes full " OMG RP knows everything, Peyton Mannin=GOD, Colts = Best team ever blah blah blah " mode. What a predictable poster this guy is. LOL i never mentioned anything about the Colts. He just realizes he's overstated his argument and got called on it and now he needs to go on defense. I wouldn't call him a beast during his time as a Patriot but he was pretty damn good. If Burgess plays like Colvin did during his good years then I'll be happy with this pick up. Patriots defense is never based around one pass rusher - it's a balanced attack.

I'm really looking forward to this season, to be honest I'm not that worried about the defensive backs anymore. Depth at LB is the biggest concern I think. I don't think Mayo is gonna have a slump either and looks like he is already the captain of the defense - he lead the stretching at practice along with Brady and Sam Aiken (must be the new special teams captain now that Izzo is gone)

It's time for Hollaman to step up too

I wonder how long it will take VEL to get past his defensive mode and actually tell us what makes Colvin a beast. I'm guessing it wont happen.

Running Backs don't last that long in the NFL in the all-star to elite status for that many years. I think the average for any player in the NFL is about 4 years with RBs being one of the shorter positions.

Love reading training camp reports. The Giants D has been dominating the offense so far. There have also been a few fights breaking out due to intense competition.

So, a DB that has a lot of tackles is a great DB then? Of course if they have a lot of tackles they're also giving up a lot of completions... but they did tackle the guy after he caught it.

What about a LB or DL that draws double coverage and allows others to make plays?

or a NT that plays 2-gap, takes on 2 OL which frees up the chance for a blitzing LB or DB to make a play?

How about offense? a WR who can go deep and draw double sometimes triple coverage and free up people for shorter yard plays? Where does he rank?

Sorry RP, it's not all about the individual stats, it's a team game and when healthy he was a Beast on those teams.
